The story of Captain Ed Freeman

on seminar:
N it
You' re a 1 9 year old kid. You' re critically wounded
and dying in the jungle somewhere in the central
highlands of Vietnam. y s November 1 1 , 1967.
landing zone] Xyray. Your unit is outnumbered
and the enemy fire is so intense from 100
yards away, that your CC) (Corn man ding Officer]
has ordered the
Medeival helicopters to stop coming in. You' re
lying there liste nin g, to the enemy machine guns
and you know you' re not getting out.
Your family is half way around the world, 12. 000
miles away, and you will never see them again.
As the world starts to fade in and out, you know
this is the day. Then -over the machine gun
noise- you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter.
You look up to see a Huey coming in, But... it
doesn' t seem real because no Medivac markings
are on it. Captain Ed Freeman is coming in for
you. He' s not a Medivac so it' s not his job, but he
heard the radio call and decided he' s flying his
Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway.
Even after the Medivacs were ordered not to
come. He' s coming anyway, and he drops it in
and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they
load three of you at the time on board. Then he
flies you up and out through the gunfire to the
doctor' s and nurses and safety.
And, he kept coming back!
Thirteen more times! Until all the wounded were
out. No one knew until the mission was over that
the captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and
left amh He took 29 of you and your buddies out
that day. Same would not have made it without
the Captain and his Huey. Medal Of Honor
recipient, Captain Ed Freeman United States
Army, died at the we of 70, in Boise, Idaho.
May God bless and rest his soul. t bet you didn' t hear
about this hero' s passing. it' s a shame that the media
couldn' t be bothered to honor Captain Ed Freeman.

I live in Boise. Everyone here knew about his passing, big huge memorial in his honor. I don't mind you sharing his story...but don't make it out like nobody cared about him.

Fellow Treasure Valley-ian mentions pride, swell with 2c.

Everytime I see a 2C license plate on the road I get terrified.
As someone from Boise, the one time I drove through downtown Nampa was terrifying.

**Anetheril used "*roll picture*"**
**Anetheril rolled image** something like this should have made national news.

If only Idahoans cared, then nobody cared.

No one that mattered at least.

Uncivilized inbred rednecks in camo and 1971 for rustbuckets do not count as real people.

Boise, Idaho. Worst place on Earth. We left Boise to go live in a 3rd world nation, because it is nicer here!

The problem isn't that he wasn't remembered at all, it's that he wasn't remembered like the national hero that he was. He looked death in the face repeatedly and carried on to save 2.5 dozen lives. I resent the fact that I didn't hear about him on the news today.
That deserves at least a moment of silence and recognition.
What he did was admirable.

ofcourse he wouldn't hit national news. autism black moslim clock is way more important. Come to europe if you want heroes to be praised for what they did. It's not that bad here, really.

Disrespect to the man. Let him use his wartime skills

This post is full of **** , 1. Freeman was designated as a Master Army Aviator, and was sent home from Vietnam in 1966. 2. he died at the age of 80 not 70 and 3. he was a Major, not a captain. I like this post. But it does not do this man justice, he was a war hero and this article full of misinformation ******** . Men like this should be held in the highest regard, not put in a post on 9gag full of false information My sauce >> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Freeman Rest in peace, Warrior.

Why does everyone still consider Wikipedia to be an unreliable source? It is more accurate than Encyclopedia Britannica and so long as the article has sources of its own, is generally entirely accurate unless the page is under dispute.
#83 to #82 - skelebones (10/09/2015) [-]
I just ******* said why. i can go in and change just about anything to 500 lines of ******* cock n balls and itll last long enough for the reason im sourcing it
#102 to #83 - anon (10/09/2015) [-]
No it won't. They have bots that undo vandalism on a regular basis. Believe me, I know. They're quick too--as in a matter of minutes. You can even change something slight and their bots will know whether or not it's an "appropriate edit" or an edit without a citation. Wikipedia pages all cite their sources for the information in their articles at the bottom of each article. Wikipedia is very reliable. People who think Wikipedia isn't reliable simply because it can be edited very briefly are dumb.
User avatar #93 to #83 - juter (10/09/2015) [-]
Doesn't mean the changes will stick. You do realize it has fact checking?

I would criticize him too, if this was a ******* essay.

Wikipedia is for casual day to day stuff.
Nobody is gonna spend hours looking for decent sources over an internet post.

Also, if there are no markings indicating that it was a medevac are present on the helicopter its no longer a medevac.
It is now just a casevac.

While you are right on 1 and 2 you are only half right by 3.
While he was a major when he left the army, he was a captain when he was flying in this action. As the wiki page you linked to says "Freeman was subsequently promoted to the rank of major..."
User avatar #18 to #17 - troopermk (10/08/2015) [-]
don't be a douche, i was referring to the last sentence in the post. He died a major.
