'I live in my own castle with an entire family of slaves to serve me while you're exiled to the cold outside.'

Proof that dogs are superior to humans. We must obey our Canine overlords.

Is this an american thing? In NZ if someone kept their cat locked indoors they would get odd looks.

Some here let their cats out, most don't. For the most part, cats are considered indoor pets. I personally believe it's animal cruelty to let your cat roam free, at least where I live anyways. Sure, if you live in a very rural area with no dangerous animals or stray cats (which doesn't exist in the US) it's not that bad, but letting your cat run around outdoors decreases it's life expectancy by ridiculous amounts. I only let my cats play in the back yard with supervision and I have a tall fence so they can't get out.

Seriously? My cat has more freedom than any dog.
We let her in and out the house whenever she wants, she climbs around and explores the area.
A dog can only go outside when be walked or into a back garden

that just means you have to go out in the cold and try to scoop dried **** off your grass or you'll get brown patches.

With a cat you get easily scoopable clumps

pfff .. a cat poops where it pleases. in a classy fashion, a cat chooses to defecate in the powder provided instead of randomly delivering steamers for everyone to enjoi. found another one huh? happy spring yard clean up

I let my cat roam. He's been going out on his own for nearly eight years and he loves it. My other cat, however, needs to be supervised because she's the dumbest thing alive. She actually got stuck in the neighbors yard once.

Cats are agile enough that you can train them to use a toilet. The gross part would be finding a floater rather than picking up **** .

I think my gf is turning me into a cat person

Dogs are restricted withing a leash or fence.
Cats (in rural areas at least) are free to go wherever, claim the neighbours yard, and fight off turf wars with other cats.

I once trained a cat to ask to go outside to poop.

Best cat ever.

It's funny, it's almost the opposite at our house. The dog runs off so she can only go out on a leash, but the cat stays outside.
