TIME Magazines Person of the Year isn't based on positive effects, it's based on effect in itself. As far as Abu Bakr is concerned, he has been very much influential so far. So far in fact, that it's not even a bad candidate at all.

person of the year award goes to the person that was most influential, negative or positive.
and terorrism was really influential this year. **** ton of attacks that sparked global outrage and put wheels in motion for another huge conflict in the middle east.

People are acting like ISIS leading the polls is some sort of troll effort, but the point of the person of the year is who had the biggest impact, good OR bad. No one can argue the impact that ISIS has had, so it is completely possible that they got in without 4chan's help.
