In all fairness, Kojima has been wanting to stop Metal Gear for a long time now so he could work on new material, konami forced him to keep making more metal gear games.

Kojima has his own independent studio with a partnership with sony, where he has full reign to make the games and stories hes actually been wanting to make for years now.
