The Archerfish. I don't like archery too many drawbacks. The fires a jet of water at its prey, making it drop into the water so it can eat it.. The most interesting thing about this fish, however, is how it's still able to aim with the refraction of the water surface.

Does it also make a difference that it's eyes are on the side of it's head? Because if so, that would seem even more impressive

you mean the same way rednecks do it with bows? It's called practice i am sure they can't do it like that right off the bat. I mean look at skunk and when they do the balance act on their 2 front paws to spray someone. the babies will practice it constantly until they get it right.

Sure some things take practice, but others can be just pure instinct. Remember that sharks are born swimming.

Seriously though, there's studies showing that some animals and even insects are just genetically wired to know how to do **** . I wouldn't be surprised if the Archerfish can instinctively aim its water, without the need of practice.

not mentioning its ******* eyes are pointed to the sides only.. that means that it has to calculate the shot before shooting and then taking the shot aiming toward its blind spot.

I like to think of it as a gun evolving into a cannon, but with an ocean theme.

This is extra impressive when you consider that the fish has to adjust its aim for light refraction.

From what I learned in school, when this fish is under the water, the way the light reacts to being under water will make it look like, to the fish, that the bug is in a completely different location, but these fish are born knowing to shoot a little over-top or beneath where they're seeing the bug in order to hit it.

Don't quote me on this.
