This is the most perfect piece of political satire in reference to the America system. Thanks for the share.

What does it mean by third party candidate? Would that be something like the green party in the UK? I really don't understand politics, why am I getting involved.

I'm convinced at least one of the two largest parties is on the way out.

The two main parties have regulations in place that essentially prevent 3rd party candidates from appearing in the general debates. The mainstream media in the US also has a bias against 3rd party candidates that was apparent to anyone who paid attention during the last election, and was also covered in a study by The Atlantic. What we have in the US is a two-party dictatorship, with neither party being substantially different from the other and both being backed by the same banks and corporations.

USA, a two party dictatorship, only one more party than their former enemy, USSR.

I hate how people tell you shouldn't vote third party because it's wasted vote. Ofcourse it's a wasted vote when you tell everyone not to vote for them for that reason. It's circular logic.

I love these posts because it gives me an excuse to crack open my Ron Paul folder.

And now it's becoming commonplace for the sides to just change the rules if they don't like what's happening. When you can simply change the rules, there are no longer any rules.

most people in 'democracies' are so set on just following the herd and vote for either of the 2 main parties instead of perhaps, i dont know, thinking outside the square and voting for someone from a 3rd party

And in the comment section we see 15 year olds saying Ron Paul is a god among men and if we had all sucked his cock sooner we would be in a better place now.

consider that 3 or more party systems have their own flaws. lets say country A has a 3 party system; party 1, party 2, and party 3. Come election year, 30 percent vote for party 1, 30 percent vote for party 2, and 40 percent vote for party 3. So, party 3 wins. But with only a 40 percent vote. that means you have 60 percent of the population (thats the majority, folks) unhappy with the results. that is not good. And imagine if there were even more parties? thats one reason that the US has a 2 party system, and its served us well been doing alright for a long time now (even if things are looking pretty ****** atm)

but all rants and debating aside, i love the simpsons and i especially love the treehouse of horrors stuff

The American third party vote has been a joke for over a century. People say 3rd party candidates aren't worth voting for or don't get enough media attention. Those people forget the 1912 election in which Teddy Roosevelt ran against the Republican party by forming his own progressive Bull Moose party and in doing so the best he was able to do was split the vote and land the American people with one of the more incompetent presidents we've ever had in Woodrow Wilson. Europeans should be especially upset with that fact. If anyone but Woodrow Wilson had been in office you would have had American involvement earlier in WWI and might have actually have saved an appreciable amount of British and French troops lives. Thank you Simpsons.

Historyfag here,
While the sinking of the Lusitania certainly sent America into a hissy fit, it wasn't until the US intercepted a telegram sent from Germany to Mexico saying they could keep some US territory if they would fight the US that made them declare war.

Do Americans really think the two-party problem is unique to their country?
User avatar #107 to #103 - privateblakevell (11/23/2013) [-]
I don't think it's about America being a two-party system, I think it's about there also being the independent party but hardly anyone votes for anyone in that.
