All banks are like that, and they like to refuse to investigate fraudulent withdrawals, claiming it's not their responsibility, even though they have a legal obligation to investigate any fraudulent claims and reimburse the victim the amount lost.

Also, a loophole for those in Australia: According to government Law, a bank cannot legally overdraw an account. You cannot take what doesn't exist. The next time you get an overdrawn account, take it all the way to the courts.

I have Chase. I love Chase....Had someone buy $88 in gas in another state using my account. They refunded the amount and gave me a new card in the same day. All I had to do was call which lasted 2 minutes. He was like >Mr derp, are you in derpvill atm? >yes. >Ok here is your money we'll send you a new card too.

Hahaha sound like Rbc (royal bank of canada). They do the same thing.
I went with a credit union bank instead - way better!

This is why you use a credit union, not a bank.

Not that I'm saying it's okay that banks actually do this.

I pretty much have the exact opposite experience with my fifth third bank.

I needed an extra 20 to pay rent. Rent was coming up in a couple days. No credit card to avoid those late fees. So I go into the bank asking about a credit card. Walk into guy's office. He says my credit probably isn't good enough to get a credit card, and that it'd take a while to be approved anyway. But he, being the Broseph Jones that he is, transferred 20 dollars into my account after I left.

Bank called it an error, but left me the money.

Thank you, Fifth Third.
