The movie didn't live to it's potential, yes. Many parts should've been way better, like Kylo Ren's face reveal. Completely anti-climatic, but what I liked was indeed that it was the face of a teenager. Because it shows how young someone can be to become corrupted by the dark side, and it solidifies how Anakin started to fall to the dark side, as a teen with anger issues and not enough mama points to get tendies.
What made TFA good was how it followed on with the history of the SW universe, and you got to admit that it was a good idea to make the movie's story very rudimentary. It will give a good base for episodes 8 and 9 on which to build a more solid story.
Right now what we got is basically the following on which to build a very stable story:
1. Kylo Ren's evolution as a sith and the reveal of Snoke's true power, aka the true extent and power of the First Order
2. The evolution of Rey and her rise as a jedi, even though she did get some of the most powerful jedi powers almost right off the bat
3. Luke's evolution as a Jedi Master. I want to see how much he has grown with the Force.
4. Finn adapting to a new and unknown world, and maybe a reveal of him being the new "Chosen One" or something of the sort

TL;DR: The movie played it safe so it can give the following episodes the chance to build on a solid ground.

And yes it actually does, it picked up decently from episode 6 and played it safe.

It was a reference to a 4chan post.

Now, excuse my anger it's not directed at you personally, just my lack of udnerstanding.

Why the **** do people thing it was a good continuation and a good movie?? Does everyone really have such ****** taste or have they become so numb due to hours and hours of ****** material on the media that they have become blind to beauty and actual creativity?? Can't they realize the differenc between someone half-assedly putting recycled elements of Star Wars to try and trick you into thinking you're wathcing Star Wars, without even trying to have fun with it?

-Han Solo's character is destroyed. Even the New Indiana Jones movie (which was **** as well) did more justice to the original character. Han Solo is now weak, he became a smuggler again. He didn't end up with Leia. He makes stupid jokes and acts awkwardly like he was making an audition for The big Bang Theory.

-Leia and Han's chemistry is non-existant.

-Both villains are laughable. One is a ******* idiot who throws tantrums like a baby and when you see it just think "weak". The other is the most generic CGI made villain possible, with the stupidiest name. "Snoke". Sounds like something someone would name their cat.

-Oh yeah. there was a captain something stormtrooper in there as well who made me cringy but I can't quite put my finger on why. It is a try to appeal to people by bringing the GoT actress.

-the story consisted on them running around from one pointless thing to the other in the attempt to fool you into thinking something of worth was actually happening ("what was that?"). He did the same in the first star trek but at least he had more fun with it there.

-He isn't honoring the old Star Wars by copying those elements. Like if it was a song, this wouldn't be a cover. it would be like someone trying to play the same song but doing a **** job at it and playing it with no heart.

-the humor. such stupid, transparent, I saw the joke coming from miles away, humor. "Awkward humor" which I'm growing to loathe because it's everywhere and it just basically means "act like an idiot to get laughs" when at first, the beauty of that kind of humor was to show human vulnerability so you could empathize.

- Kylo Ren killed Han solo like a faggot. that scene had no depth and they just wsted Han solo's death in the most pathetic way possible.

-It basically makes episode VI non-existant because all of it's accomplishments, the ones of the characters, are destroyed by this movie, so that they can do the same **** again and call it a "new trilogy".

-That trooper with the beating stick was such a dumb thing to put in there.

-The new Death Star. they even have to have Han saying "it's bigger, so what?". As if joking about it would make the idea less stupid.

-the new pilot of the x wings tried to say "wooo!" and **** like that to get you excited but it didn't because he didn't feel it and you could feel that.

It's just plastic. Heartless.

I remember liking like 3 scenes. One was when they show Rey for the first time in so e ruins. THAT was interesting, mysterious, and you felt like you were exploring a new corner of star wars, but it didn't live long. The other is when Han explains that the Jedi and the force "it's real. all of it." I still get chills.

The other was when Luke shows up, but they ruined it by making it so unnecessary long, with them just awkardly staring at each other while the camera spins.

Here's why I enjoyed the movie:
I wanted to see how the Galaxy changed from the events of Episode 6. I didn't want to see an Empire (now the First Order) with the same tech and same costumes as before, I wanted to see progress, technological advancement. The fact that they did do changes to a good portion of the factions really gave me a good satisfaction on how the universe of Star Wars seems to evolve.

Now onto the characters:

- Han Solo is now old. He can't be the cool smuggler forever, and his decision to return to smuggling is justified. He literally says to Leia that it's all that he knows and that he left so he could annoy her. Dash of classic Han Soloing right there. They clearly asked Ford to act like he did back as Han, but since it was an old form of acting, it didn't pan out that well and felt, at some points, awkward.

- Of course their chemistry is still there, you can see it in their eyes and they even admit that they got mutual feelings going on. But they are distant of each other because of the fact that their son Ben Solo/Organa, aka Kylo Ren, is corrupted by the dark side, which makes both Han and Leia think that they failed as parents.

- Can't argue with Snoke, first time I heard the name I thought about Snoop Dogg. Kylo Ren is still at the good old "raging teenager" phase, and they did point out many times that his training is not yet complete.

- They added Phasma in and didn't really give her much action, which did feel very lackluster, yes. But she did say that she hand-raised the whole battalion of Stormtroopers since they were children, so that was some nice piece of trivia.

- The story did have the consistent "Escape from here, go there and defeat the bad guys" jive going on, which was very basic SW storytelling there. But I agree on what you do say, they gave a ton of information and it felt confusing at points, but the main story stayed the same: The First Order is a threat, the Resistance must fight them with the help of new characters.

- Abrams honoured the old Star Wars by filming them with a mish mash of older and newer filming equipment, giving it a nice rugged look at points, and they also did a good job with prop creation. The movie uses the same techniques as the old trilogy but uses at the same time the advantages of newer movie technology.

- We all got our tastes in humour mate, maybe the humour in the movie simply wasn't meant for you.

- The scene was meant to be short and simple. Ren wanted to strengthen his resolve on giving himself in to the dark side, and killing Han Solo in such a "pathetic" way reminds us that even Han, a legend, is in the end a simple person. The scene was powerful for the sake of strengthening Ren's ambition to become better than Darth Vader, and the death of Han strengthens his resolve and tells us that he is ready to do anything to achieve his goal.

- Episode 6 ended with the Empire breaking off completely, and with the Rebels winning. It literally ends with them just celebrating with walking human-faced bears, so I see nothing destroyed in the process.

- Exactly, it's just a bigger Death Star. That's what connects the First Order to the Empire, it simply wants to be bigger and better.

- Not sure about you, but it was a pretty epic scene seeing an X-Wing smash up a squadron of stormtroopers down. The "woo" was basically what we all thought when the fly-by mowdown happened.

It's good that you have your opinion on how the movie was for you, but don't just slap it right down the drain. It wasn't as stellar as most expected it to be, hell not even I "loved" it, I just liked it. It brought in nostalgia, but as I said, it gave a great, solid base on which the rest of the trilogy can build on.
We will see how it will all pan out.

You're only justifying it mentally. As if looking at the concepts by itself, reading the screen. you didn't SEE or FEEL the movie.

How do I explain this... it's as thought you're only thinking of it mentally. Like concepts.

But you can write "lightsord battle". Or "intense lightsaber battle" and both sound cool. But in the actual film. you can have people who clearly felt they were on the set of a movie without believing they own acting.

On paper, the movie would sound way better than it actually was to watch it. because they couldn't even deliver well their own ideas.

It's like the difference between reading a joke, and having a good comedian and a bad comedian say it.
