I remember back in denver (I moved when I was 22, which was 2011) I was in the back seat of this bitches car, some girl my buddy was ******* with, and she was staring at her phone screen driving down Federal blvd (which if you know anything about Denver you know how retarded that is)

i got out and called for a ride from someone else.... i've already almost died in a wreck before I don't play that **** .

American roads are very straight
User avatar #57 to #34 - adu (10/28/2015) [-]
Because straight roads prevent you from ramming into cars in front of you...

I drive for a living in Denver, so yeah I know exactly how ******* stupid that is. And I too would also get out and risk getting shot before I stayed in the car.

because most of Federal is hoodrat as **** , get it haha I'm so funny
User avatar #64 to #25 - hashtronaut (10/28/2015) [-]
i get along with the hooded rats. One might even say I am one. Although I been living in rural Kansas since 2011...and the woods life is slowly brushing off onto me. All I need is some tats and long hair and i'm on my way to being a wolf, that's yela.

How the hell can someone drive and not have 100% full focus on the road at all times? Do they have any idea how many people's lives have been destroyed by this **** ?

it can be. people forget not to be completely stupid. it happens. its not that hard to believe.

"Do they have any idea how many people's lives have been destroyed by this **** ?"
I mean, if you know that so many people's lives have been destroyed, why do you think it happens so frequently anyway? people don't choose to crash into others

Some idiot totaled my car because they were texting when the idiot in front of me slammed on the brakes to make an unsignaled left turn. Also the idiot behind the idiot that hit me hit her and totaled her idiotmobile because he was texting, too.

******* idiots, I loved that car.
User avatar #44 to #10 - abesimpson (10/28/2015) [-]
How fast were you going? Even if the front driver is being an idiot you must always leave a safe space between you and him in case **** like this happens.

Normally by law the one that hits from behind gets fined, you can't prove that the guy didn't signal but they can prove that you hit from behind.
User avatar #69 to #44 - cdm ONLINE (10/28/2015) [-]
I didn't hit him, because I was minding the speed limit and following at a safe distance. Even when 2 cars plowed my asshole, I didn't touch him. Er, her, come to think of it.

Oh I understood you crashed because of him and then got slammed from behind.

Damn that must have really suck, bro.

Didn't the insurance pay for your car? I know it's not the same though, sometimes we get attached to our rides.

My sister does this **** all the time. She always texts and just doesn't pay attention. She has run numerous red lights just because "she didn't notice" and tailgates the **** out of people and flips them off. And she will go like 15 mph over and get mad if she gets a ticket. Needless to say I'm always scared riding along with her.

You must like guns to be that stupid.

Phone's used while driving is the cause, so it's illegal.

If guns were illegal like in Japan, there would be no gun related crimes. Like in Japan...

Phones are necessary for daily life, guns are not.

Dumbass Americans.
User avatar #23 to #11 - reindeerflotilla (10/28/2015) [-]
>Phones are necessary for daily life

Cell phones have only been around for about 40 or so years. The ability to SMS has been around even less than that, about 25. Humans have been on this earth for 200,000 years. Cell phones haven't been necessary for daily life the previous 199960 years. They aren't now. They're convent, sure, but hardly necessary.
User avatar #30 to #23 - respirator (10/28/2015) [-]
Welcome to the ******* 21st century dude. Cell phones ARE 100% necessary part of life in America. What If my boss needs to call me to ask if I can come in and I'm at the store? What if my son is sick and his babysitter needs to reach me while I'm out?

Haahaaa,
How about those 50+ people massacred by knives in China?
Banning guns in America will cause a civil war.
It will cause a rise in violet crimes like rape just as it did in the UK and Australia.
If gun control worked then Chicago and Washington DC would be the safest places in America.
You may not care about your rights because you're a pussy but we do because we wish to live free and have the means to stand up to tyranny.

Not all those who are pro-gun are Americans, dumbass.

And if taking our right to the means for effective self-defense is really about decreasing gun deaths and not about making the corrupt government safe then why are they trying to ban body armor?

thefreethoughtproject.com/federal-ban-body-armor-proposed-congress/

And guns are so hated by the government (and leftists) specifically because what they're essentially about is force to prevent others from imposing their tyranny (in the case of the government) and their degeneracy (in the case of leftists) on you. Guns are a morally-neutral self-defense tool. The men who use them are either good or bad. And when you ban guns from law-abiding civilians and thus only leave them in the hands of police officers, the military and law enforcement, you're saying being upstanding or not is not the differentiating factor and the criterion for what makes a person good or bad and worthy or not of owning and using a gun, but it is instead the a concept called the state, which is the difference between citizens and police officers. This is tyrannical and dystopian.

You think you are for gun bans but there is no such thing as gun bans, there is only centralizing gun ownership in the hands of elites and their thugs.
#24 to #11 - truenick (10/28/2015) [-]
Banning guns will only work if guns were never allowed in the first place. Once they are I'm circulation and commonplace in most households, you can't really take them away. Since most guns are purchased legally, by law abiding citizens, its hard to justify confiscating their property. Not to mention, would they be reimbursed by the government?

One way to look at this is with cell phones. Let's say enough people rally together and the government suddenly made cell phones illegal to own, requiring anyone who owned one to turn it in. Wouldn't you be pissed? Wouldn't everyone?

But if cell phones were never allowed in the first place, it wouldn't really matter would it?

>Lack of lane control
inexperienced driver
>Spending 2 minutes looking only at your phone
bad at texting
simply do it on non busy streets, while keeping your lane, and look up every 2 seconds. If you are driving correctly, you should have 4 seconds before you hit anything, and can stop in 2.
User avatar #28 to #9 - fourfangedferret (10/28/2015) [-]
Or, and this idea may be shocking to you, or, dont be a ******* asshole and stop texting while driving a ton of steel at lethal speeds. If you are not paying attention to the road while driving, then you should stop ******* driving. Nothing is so ******* important that it cant wait thirty god damned seconds for you to pull over and text.
User avatar #45 to #28 - abesimpson (10/28/2015) [-]
I usually do it at stoplights sometimes looking every 2 seconds up. If im driving I usually leave a voice record instead of texting so I don't have to look down.

Usually it's a "can't chat, driving" message. But sometimes I might joke around or chat.

I still don't know how people can text with their hands while driving and not look at the roads, it's ******* scary.
#59 - adu (10/28/2015) [-]
If someone needs to talk to me, they can call me. Driving with one hand isn't hard.
If they don't have time to call me, then they can wait. Driving without looking at the road is ******* stupid.

The ONLY time it's okay to text while in the driver's seat is when the car is at a COMPLETE stop, either parked or at a red light. Worst case scenario is that you get honked at for not moving your ass, which is much better than killing someone.

The 2nd bus guy, I can't even tell if he's texting. His eyes don't move at all whatsoever when he realizes he is going to crash into the car infront of him, it's just him sort of looking ahead and then "oh wait I have to break". Also, how the hell did the girl in 4 even get that far before realizing it? It's not like it was a slow creep, it was a complete swerve offroad and shes just like "oops i swerved 20 ft by accident"
User avatar #32 to #27 - dazartimm (10/28/2015) [-]
You can see the phone in his hands if you look very very carefully. He is sitting up straight and holding his head like he is driving, but his eyes are straight down to see his phone and he can't see the road.

But I will not excuse the ******* of anyone else on the road, either. Especially what I dealt with today. How the **** you gonna run a red light, clear as day KNOWING it's a red light, and then TAILGATE A ******* SEMI GOING UP A HILL?!

I've almost had numerous accidents due to dumb bitches in Land Rovers texting.
It boils my blood every time I see someone calling or texting behind the wheel or when someone my age (20-something) just openly admits to not paying attention behind the wheel and texting.

Driving isn't all that hard but constantly being on the lookout for every dumb **** that shouldn't have a driver's license is what makes it difficult. Top that off with exams that are way too easy in my country and every car ride becomes as exciting as a roller coaster ride.
User avatar #53 - severepwner (10/28/2015) [-]
Ok to be honest, I have my MP3 player hooked up, but I start it on shuffle on my entire library until I get to where I'm going. If I want to skip a track, muscle memory allows me to pick up my ipod, and hit the right buttons. However if it's my iphone, which is upside down when it's hooked up, I have a bit more of a problem.

Sometimes my MP3 messes up for no reason, and I'll be damned before I drive another 30 minutes in silence, so I have to mess around with my ipod to get it working again, but I have rules, because I know how dangerous it is.

1. Straight(ish) roads will be the only time I do anything on my device
2. Be extremely conscious about what is in front of me.
3. Let off the gas, slow down 5 mph (depending on the situation and area).
4. I only look at my device at 1.25 second glances at most before returning to the road.
