I might have failed to learn Spanish, but at the very least I have a pretty decent grasp on my first language.

I have a rather strong vocabulary and it's one of the few things I'm actually proud of.

Most people who are native speakers of a language don't speak the proper form of it, as it is tedious.

When you're on the internet, unless you're a grammar nazi, you really care less about punctuation and spelling and things like that.

Just to make this clear. I'm norwegian.

At our summer house in Spain we have a couple where one is from England and one is from Spain. She told me and my parents that we speak more "cleaner" ( easier to understand) english then 'british' people.

How acid isn't that?

Year, so most people do that to point out how well they actually write the language even though it's not native. They know it's damm near perfect. It's basically the "intellectuals" way of being an attentionwhore.

I'm truly sorry for my hideous English grammar but you have to excuse me as I live in a non-English speaking country.

Well... I almost understand you now. But yeah, it sucked at first.

Btw, I'm terribly sorry for I'm not an English speaker, and I'll do my best to write something understandable.

Ok let's look at this way. This was probably based off a chatroom in some butthole of the internet. And I highly doubt people tend to be very formal there. Since this person had no obligation to use proper grammar, they used it informally, since using it formally wasn't required and they didn't seek to make an impression.

The foreign person was grammatically correct because that's the only way they knew how to spell, correctly. Informal spelling was something we learned over time, he was not that far into using english to learn things like slang or abbreviations.

If the person who was born with English were to write an essay for an English class or something, do you really think they wouldn't use their best in grammar in that circumstance? If they didn't, then they are indeed dumber than a bag of mentally handicapped rocks.

stupid is a universal language. there are people in every language that talk like **** . Consider this: it is hard to learn another language, therefore only smart people become bilingual and learn to speak properly

It should be "as" or "for", it is redundant to have them together.

You want forgiveness? look elsewhere.

I'm purely curious to what most people want out of this sentence. Are you looking to be judged less? more? Do you want people to correct you, who may not have otherwise? Or do you not want to be corrected at all? or just not have people jump down your throat because the entire sentence, while understandable, isn't quite worded as a fluent speaker would say it.

This isn't exclusive to English really.
All native-language speakers have their own ways of speaking their own languages, you become so used to it that you can afford to be blunt, short and sweet about what you're saying.
If you're not a native speaker to that language though you want to do your best to speak it properly to make sure you're actually being understood.

i have always gotten a some what ironic giggle out of posts like this: my futile effort at learning Spanish left me with a better understanding of English then years of English classes in school ever did.
