Well it's been awhile but the whole point of your missions in AC1 was to move back up from a novice assassin because you lost from breaking the 3 tenets of the brotherhood(so basically regain your honor). You really didn't know about your leader being evil till the last mission.

Let's be honest, we need another charming twat of a main character to keep the damn thing going. Connor was decent, but he's no Ezio.

Connor was trying too hard to be Altair. Altair was stoic, but intense, while Connor was just stoic, to the point of being boring, and unconvincing when he got srs.

There will not be another Ezio, Ezio was too damn well written, he had motivation, character development, an actual personality, ext... I don't think the writers will be able to write a character (or a story) as good as Ezio and AC2 again.

Zombies are even more overused and people still make good zombie games, it just depends if it's done well or not. I never said Ninja & Samurai weren't overused anyway, I've just always believed, since the first game, that the setting would fit really well with the AC play style. And it could be amazing.

P.S. I think I will go play Ninja Gaiden, thank you

User avatar #82 to #79 - lyiat ONLINE (12/02/2013) [-]
Possibly because Ninja Gaiden isn't a ******* stealth or assassination game, and no ******* ninja games actually play to what shinobi actually are?
User avatar #86 to #82 - tkfourtwoone (12/02/2013) [-]
As if AC series is about stealth.... yeah right.

Look, I said this countless times before: samurais & ninjas & shurikens & katanas & WHATEVER are ******* overrused. They're TRULY cliche.
inb4 a pirate game appears every once in... how many years?

That's first of all!
Second of all, it would have absolutely NO connection to the main AC plot. Japan was a very isolated country up until the 19th century. Feudal Japan basically has absolutely no room for conspiracy theories regarding Templars & Assassins.

If they were to make a Japan-themed AC game it would have to be somewhere during the Meiji restoration period. when Western civilization has the greatest impact on the transformation of Japan from a Feudal state (which it still was in the 1800s) to a modern one.

But hey, weaboos gonna weaboo and are gonna jizz all the day at the thought of shinobi & whatever.
Kinda hard to use your head and figure out that either Victorian England or Revolutionary France would ACTUALLY MAKE a much more interesting setting!

Actually, it was Redemption, Justice, and "Was told to" Or you could say he was protecting his people. Whichever helps you sleep better at night.

I want a game about Haytham's life. I want to know why he betrayed the order and became a Templar.
#56 to #46 - ODX (12/02/2013) [-]
Read up:

Essentially... Haytham's father (Edward) was killed and sister (Jennifer) kidnapped and his house burned down, but Haytham was saved by a Templar, Reginald Birch (who was Edward's "senior property managers" and also courting Jennifer, as well as the guy in the beginning act of AC3). From there he kinda raised Haytham and thus into the Templars since Edward had only secretly raised Haytham to be an Assassin but had never told him truly about it.
User avatar #61 to #46 - akkere (12/02/2013) [-]
I really loved Haythem as a character. I hated how they just kind of killed him off. I felt he had a lot of story potential, someone who could show why one might want to oppose the Assassins and support the Templars.

AC4 is still the best one hands down.
User avatar #60 to #23 - akkere (12/02/2013) [-]
I thought AC2: Brotherhood was a lot better. Kick-ass battle against Cesare, delicious immersion, etc.

My biggest complaint with AC4 also is the lack of closure with the Employee at Abstergo - we don't really know anything about him other than he's a dude who works at Abstergo and does stuff with the Animus.
Rebecca and Shaun's " **** we're sorry but if you could like, keep hacking, that'd be gr8" was kind of misguided too.
User avatar #73 to #60 - deadlydong (12/02/2013) [-]
the thing is that the employee is suppose to be you. just like how they don't show master chiefs face in halo. its because they want you to immerse your self in the game. in case you didn't understand that they give the worker a diary although it doesn't go deep into his life you can get a sense of what kind of guy he is by the way he describes whats going on at work.
User avatar #83 to #23 - tkfourtwoone (12/02/2013) [-]
Actually haven't played AC2, but...

I really think it's very hard to top off AC2. The beginning of Ezio's journey, how he matures from a clueless playboy prick to a well-seasoned young man, Firenze, Venezia...
IMO pretty much NOTHING will ever compare to those 2 cities and how they were re-made

That was my biggest complaint before I got the game.
Pay attention in your playthrough. Look at what Edward and the pirates fight for.
The goals of the assassins and Edward are similar, they just don't get along well.
They also both oppose the Templars.

Plus, my point is that the game is by far the funnest. Outside the animus is also somewhat interesting this time.

User avatar #6 to #4 - fjanony (12/01/2013) [-]
So there is a real life story, I was afraid they wouldn't go on with it since desmond dies. Who do you play in real life now tho?
#9 to #6 - anon (12/01/2013) [-]
Just an anon's opinion, but the main story was not bad. It went on for a tad bit longer than I'd have liked for such little satisfaction it gave at the end. And be prepared to be on your ship for about 60% of the game (probably more). Gameplay wise, the mechanics are fine, and even more bushes to hide in than ac3. I would go for the extra gun holsters as soon as you can, they help a lot, and you can pretty much cheat on every boss fight with them. It felt a little watered down, definitely wasn't my favorite of the AC games, but it was not bad. 7/10 would play again. As for who you play as, you're in first person the entire time and I'm pretty sure they dont even mention if you're a boy or girl.
User avatar #21 to #9 - fjanony (12/02/2013) [-]
Well I did like fights with the ship in AC 3, so I'm ok with this.
Also I doubt they will make one better than AC 2 ever again, I liked the main store, present time story, and most of all Ezio, he was the best Assassin ever, watching him grow up from AC 2, through AC brotherhood and finally AC revelations was a nice experience and i got really attached to him, really sucked to move on to Connor later, but hey, the story must go on.

I don't think he was meant to. Historically Native American men/warriors were taught at birth not to show emotion (sign of weakness?). In fact Ubisoft had connor give a speech that showed emotion and explained a bunch of stuff but they removed it from the final copy. I don't know why but after listening to it I could say there would've been way less connor hate on the internet. here take a look for yourself Connor's Forsaken Epilogue soliloquy (deleted scene) - Assassin's Creed 3
User avatar #121 to #120 - xXBananaBishopXx (12/02/2013) [-]
That was an excellent speech, I wish they would have kept it in. But I never really hated Connor, he just seemed misunderstood and naive at times.
User avatar #123 to #121 - KabulMan (12/02/2013) [-]
Yeah I see what you mean its like everytime he confronted one of his assassination targets he'd say something really idealistic and they'd just **** all over his beliefs. But near the end I notice that he learned from them and started becoming more like his eyes where opening to the real world. Its a shame too that Ubisoft i done with Connor I think he would've been waaay better if they developed his story more (kind of like ezio). Personally Connor being in the french revolution would've just been perfect.

Technically, Connor was pretty much revenge too.
It was literally just him running around America being pissed off at everything. I mean he had a pretty damn good reason to be pissed off, don't get me wrong, but, goddamn, ************ had more revenge than Ezio.

He learned through time that there's a difference between revenge and what need to be done, whats right, and what he should do. By the end of his journey it wasn't for revenge it was for freedom and righteousness.
