do we really look like mongols? kinda cool tbh.

I've never noticed it before. but looking at my most recent photo I guess there is a resemblance?

Round mongol face. You should try shooting a bow from a galloping horse
User avatar #123 to #122 - jiichei (10/21/2015) [-]
I have a few survival bows that I practice with actually I swear my archery hobby has nothing to do with my possible mongol roots , but I don't have a horse, and shouldn't I be shooting arrows instead of my bow? sorry, I'm a smartass.
but why and what does my face shape has to do with gallopping horses and bows?
User avatar #124 to #123 - cuzsunny (10/21/2015) [-]
Teach me the ancient hunting skills!

Shoot your bow and confuse your enemies

From what I remember, one of the dominant features of the mongols was their round faces and was a unique trait of the Asian world. Also the mongols were praised for their horseback prowess and being able to hit targets while riding.
User avatar #125 to #124 - jiichei (10/21/2015) [-]
ooh, such advanced tactics!

oh really? I haven't payed attention to that tbh, interesting little detail.
oh yeah, I've heard about their archery skills! I've tried to replicate them without a horse because they even have a different style how to hold a bow and stuff. those fellas knew some stuff about wars and **** .
User avatar #126 to #125 - cuzsunny (10/21/2015) [-]
They rode through the lands shooting arrows and ******* women. Especially Genghis Khan.

Oh that's pretty cool! Are you good at archery?

Have you seen the guy that replicates ancient archers and can shoot arrows really quickly and while jumping and running around?
User avatar #127 to #126 - jiichei (10/21/2015) [-]
oh, Lars Andersen. yeah. I know him. I don't really like his attitude "this is better IMO so they must have done it this way !" he seems really arrogant. he has some good tips, tricks and techniques but he mostly does "trickster archery" and acts like there is only one way to do things.
and I think I'm alright. I mean I practice very traditional archery, I make my own arrows and all, and before I even knew about Lars, I too kept multiple arrows in my hand so I can shoot them faster, and I also didn't stay in the same place.
I got in to archery from larping/boffering(dagorhir if you're american) and archer tag like gameplay. I wish I can one day get my hunting license so I can actually put my skills to test I have shot moving targets, but it's different when you have an IDV-larp arrow...

I have also gained a bit of interest to buy a better and more modern bow and try out olympic stylish archery.
User avatar #128 to #127 - cuzsunny (10/21/2015) [-]
I didn't know that. The video I watched about him didn't actually have him speaking. It was a narrator talking about him and stuff.

You're pretty interesting. How do you make the arrows?

Do it! I want to see you win the archery Olympics
User avatar #129 to #128 - jiichei (10/22/2015) [-]
hmm. yeah I maybe came out a little bit of a hater for him but I don't mean it. he has great tricks and advices about archery, I mean a lot of olympic archers often say "that's not real archery" to other archer sub categories, and I absolutely despise it, so when Lars, who kinda represented me, kinda, said similar stuff I was kinda mad because I want to end all the confrontations and fights, there are good and bad things in all the different styles and tecnhiques. this probably sounds really dumb sorry.

interesting is an interesting choice of word, but I'm not complaining.
how do I make arrows? depends. non-lethal or possibly-lethal haven't tested on anyone yet ? I used to use some sticks, if you dry some willow sticks, they can be pretty decent, sometimes really straight and good. I often put some tape on them so I can find them easier if I shoot them somewhere way off, it also adds durability a little bit to the arrow however, I have become lazy and I now order fiberglass sticks from china . gooses leave their feathers just about in the middle of the summer in our town and countryside, so I go gather them, I freeze them and take most of the goosepoop off the feathers, I cut them in half, I take a needle and thread and I go around the feathers and stuff... hard to explain, in many movies and games when they have arrows they often just glue the feathers in, glueing can be legit, but old school is more durable, cooler, historically accurate and better yet, cheaper. . oh right, and I often somehow carve the nock. the pointy head can be trickiest. I studied for a half a year under a blacksmith, and I did a few more legit arrowheads there, but I don't have any equipment to work with at home, so I do the fallout way, bottlecaps. whack them into shape.

I didn't go that much into detail because almost all of the processes can be found on the internet. and the nonlethal version is very lengthy to explain how I make them I don't even buy the non-lethal arrows. I make those myself too.

and I now notice that I talked a lot about poop. sorry. didn't mean to write a novel.
User avatar #130 to #129 - cuzsunny (10/22/2015) [-]
You're fine! I can tell you're very enthusiastic about archery. It's enjoyable to listen to people talk about their passions.

I now know about 100000000000% more about archery and arrow crafting than I did

I enjoyed your novel! But I am concerned about the part about not having tested the arrows on a person yet lol
User avatar #131 to #130 - jiichei (10/22/2015) [-]
well, you know... maybe I will join the avengers and and replace hawkeye so, I guess I would have to do some lethal takedowns or some **** .
User avatar #132 to #131 - cuzsunny (10/22/2015) [-]
Well don't test your skills on innocents

What would you call yourself?

hmm some badass name would be cool, but I'm ****** at picking names...
User avatar #134 to #133 - cuzsunny (10/22/2015) [-]
I'm not very good at it either. Something strong and Norse. Maybe something to do with cold.
User avatar #135 to #134 - jiichei (10/22/2015) [-]
haha! that sounds cool. I can think of Frjósa, which means freeze in norse. too bad I don't really know any other words that could describe cold in that language. we do have a lot of cold meaning words in finnish but eh they don't sound really cool. Lumi, pyry, jää, kylmyys, hiutale, kide... eh. I guess it has to be something english so it sounds cool and makes sense to the listener.
User avatar #136 to #135 - cuzsunny (10/23/2015) [-]
I don't know how to pronounce any of those words...

A good, cold English name? Hmm.... Frostbite is kinda cool. Maybe I'm too familiar with English to think of most of our words being cool.

How is Finland? I hardly know anything about the Norse nations.
User avatar #137 to #136 - jiichei (10/23/2015) [-]
that's a cool name. Maybe I'd use it, it's the best name so far!

how is finland, hmm... our language is a bit different to other scandinavian countries, kinda like hungary, our language is "uralic" or something like that something to do with pronounciation? . some of my british friends have sometimes mistook some of my finnish bands as japanese, apparently we sound a bit similar.
finland is the land of thousand lakes and we love them and our sauna's. we are also unfortunately a very alcoholic country. we live right next to russians, and almost all the finns hate russians because they took our Karjala. you might want to check out the winter war, we kicked russia in the ass.
our country is especially pretty in the winter, in the lapland. you can see the northern lights here and santa claus apparently lives here too.
and finns are very antisocial people. it's not even funny. plus we have a tendency to kill ourselves.

well that was finland in a nutshell I guess.
User avatar #138 to #137 - cuzsunny (10/24/2015) [-]
Interesting. I don't think I've ever heard spoken Finnish.

Besides the Germans, who hasn't kicked Russia's ass? And if they attack again, you'll take out half their military with your archery skills!

What/where is the Lapland? I might be interested to see it someday and the Northern Lights.

Oh...that's not good. Is there like a cause or it just kind of happens?

Well your country sounds interesting. You've lived there your whole life?
User avatar #139 to #138 - jiichei (10/24/2015) [-]
spoken finnish is very funny. no one speaks it the same way as they write it - and I'm pretty sure no one has ever mastered finnish - not even the finnish folk. finnish is one of the hardest languages in the world apparently.
lapland is the northest part of our country, I have been there once and it was a cool trip.
finnish people have their problems. we have more tendencies to become addicts and we are constantly lacking in D-vitamin because half of the year we don't see the sun. that causes a lot of tiredness. finnish people are for some reason melancholic - I guess that explains our metal bands.

yup. lived all my life here. I have plans to move to UK so I can be in more professional studio. I want to become a 3D-artist and be in games. I don't know yet if I want to create levels, characters or something else tho, level designers are always needed, but character designing is cool. time will tell.

so... we have only talked about me now. sorry for being so rude it's not a custom in my country to chit chat. when asked a question we will answer but idk. I'll try to be more considerate from now on.
what are your dreams? aspirations? hobbies? where do you live? what do you like?
User avatar #140 to #139 - cuzsunny (10/24/2015) [-]
Huh neat. Maybe I'll try to learn it. I enjoy languages and the difficult ones are the most fun!

I didn't realize lack of sun could cause so many issues. If you start feeling the effects from the lack of sun, I'll send you some of my sunnines

Oh cool! There was a time I was going to get into game programming. Are you currently studying?

Hm me? I want to travel all over the world. I want to have a good job someday maybe start a company. Eventually find a place to stay and have a family. I like games and I love space and astronomy.

I live right in the middle of the US in a city called Kansas City. I'd rather live elsewhere though :/
User avatar #141 to #140 - jiichei (10/25/2015) [-]
haha! you wont say that when you start to learn it though! our love confessions sound like a swear word "minä rakastan sinua" because our letter R-is so strong. and we have a monstrosity of a word kumarreksituteskenteleentuvaisehkollaismaisekkuudellisenneskenteluttelemattomamm uuksissansakaankopahan, lentokonesuihkuturbiinimoottoriapumekaanikkoaliupseerioppilas , hurskahtelevaisehkollaismaisellisuuksissaankohankin. and those are legit words, but there's no way I could ever be able to say them. in finnish it's possible to say an entire sentence in a single word. like... uisinkohan which means "should I swim".
finnish language is really dumb.

yeah, lack of sun causes a lot of depression. we are often encouraged to go on a vacation during winter or take some vitamin D pills. I'd like some sun thanks!

I self studied for a year programming, I tried to enroll into a school a few times, until one of my career instructors asked me a simple question that changed me. we both knew I wasn't cut out for programming, even if I had the interest in it, I just didn't get it. she asked "so you like drawing, and you can do a lot of creative things... have you thought about 3D?" I was going to dismiss it "of course I have thought of it..." but to be honest, I haven't REALLY thought of it... and then I started to self educate myself and I'm trying to enroll next year. I have a few schools in mind. I think I'll do fine. I'm not so good at 3d yet, but I have learned the basics and I have a real interest in it.
why did you stop? if you think it could be your career, strive for it! I've always known I want to be in games dev in some way, it just took me some time to realize what path to choose in it! we could make some big international company and make great games! haha!

world travelling is definitely worth it. I wish to be a little bit wealthier so I can travel too. after all, objects and money are not that important. memories and experiences are irreplaceable. I know you will achieve your dreams if you have faith in yourself and do your best!
huh... space and astronomy? I'm not a rocket scientist, but that career path sounds like it could bring you enough wealth, and it might take you to another part of the globe. are you studying it?

I know kansas city! or at least I've seen it in the telly. isn't it an old indian city or something? "paris of the plains" it sounds like there is a rich culture in there.
is there a reason why you don't like it in there? bad memories, bad job opportunities or would you rather not talk about it?

MY LADY

ew piercings
User avatar #85 to #76 - jiichei (10/04/2015) [-]
even if you say that you know it's not gonna make me take off my piercing.

but I have to admit it would be pretty cool if people would undo anything if they added "ew" to the sentence. "ew clothes" would be the first thing I would do. naked boobies everywhere. world peace. humanity would finally ascend to godhood.

but tbh I respect your beauty standards too, you don't have to like my looks or things how I modify my shell. I like how I look, and you probably like how you look, and that's all that matters. I'm corny, but I don't like to fight over preferences. peace?

ok
#73 to #68 - raxorflazor (10/04/2015) [-]
You say this is a picture of you yes? Then let me ask you this. What makes you want to have a piercing in your face?
User avatar #79 to #73 - jiichei (10/04/2015) [-]
I got it a few years ago. let's just say it was a homage to my brother. I'd rather not talk about it, mostly because it's a long and kinda personal story.
I can easily take the piercing off, and my chin "folds" a little bit where the piercing is so the scar is hidden. I don't take tattoos or piercings if I can't hide them when necessary. I don't have any tattoos yet.
I know a lot of people on fj don't like piercings or tattoos, but I don't really care. It hasn't affected my job searching and if someone doesn't want to be with me if I have a piercing then that's too bad. so far that hasn't happened to me.
another reason is because I think it looks aesthetically beautiful. it doesn't have to please you, I mainly got it for myself after all. I want to look good for myself, like for example, I dyed my hair red because I have a thing for red heads.

why do you ask? inb4 "you ruined your face".
#109 to #79 - raxorflazor (10/04/2015) [-]
It's not that it looks bad because it's not overdone if you know what I'm saying. I'm just asking because I was wondering about the thoughts that you have when and if you do have a piercing done. I see that in your case it was something personal with your brother and so you have sort of answered my question.
User avatar #119 to #109 - jiichei (10/05/2015) [-]
ah I see. I wasn't sure what kind of a reply I was going to get so I tried to cover everything.

I like to keep my body modifications simple. I don't like to take a tattoo if there is no meaning for example. but I don't judge people who do that, some people look really beautiful with a lot of art on their body.

I don't know. but hey thanks for being actually nice. I was kinda expecting a mean reply, but it turns out you very sincerely curious.

oh okay I get it.

it's okay buddy, maybe someday you won't associate us all after that person. or maybe you do. but that's kinda sad.
User avatar #98 to #97 - joshlol (10/04/2015) [-]
there's a whole list of various things I can't enjoy because of that association lol
User avatar #102 to #98 - jiichei (10/04/2015) [-]
that sucks man. maybe someday you will get over some of those associations.
but to be honest, people who used to mean a lot to you, who you used to love, are going to stay in your heart and mind for the rest of your life. you might be able to live without them and move on, but from time to time you remember that you once loved those people.
it's heart achingly sad, but imo love always leaves a mark that can't completely heal.

all I can do is wish you all the luck and support there is. I hope you find someone to replace that love and ease your pain.

and I'm being a little bit sappy now.
