Yep, I sure as hell agree, and it sucks. Which is why that is what I've been doing that for awhile, seeing actual psychiatric help and getting therapy. This IS how Gender Dysphoria is treated, through hormone therapy and eventually transitioning. Docters have tried many other methods of supposedly curing it, such as increasing testosterone and having people just ignore it. It doesn't work. Its been shown that transitioning has dropped suicide rates among people who are considered transgender. You generally have to go to therapy a helluva long time to even get to the point of getting hormone therapy. Its usually the last option they recommend, and only after they exhaust every other option, "Are you sure you just don't just like cross dressing?" or "Are you sure you don't just do it for sexual thrill and just want a pair of breasts?". You might not believe this treatment is right, but its the best thing thats available. If there was a surgery or some such I could take to make me happy with my body, i'd quite willingly take it.

Chemical imbalance in the brain, sometimes in the body itself, is most likely the culprit, but its hard to say with 100% confidence due to the difficulty of observing a brain, which is why neurology is hard. Frankly we will probably never know for sure because neurology is limited in its observations by how far along technology is. It takes a long time to make breakthroughs in the field of neurology or in the creation of the equipment it uses, and we may never know for sure for a very long time.

I don't speak for everyone, but I would like to be treated like a princesses (I am a guy) sometimes, but that would look and feel pretty weird the way I am build. No, gender roles aren't really a thing. It's most likely a chemical imbalance in the brain ( or the body depending on the person) but it's difficult to say anything with 100% certainty when dealing with mental disorders and other brain related issues due to difficulty in observing the brain and the lack of neurologists in the world.

I would not go as far as to say that gender roles does not exist. It really depends on how important a person believe it is. If I go around thinking that it is important, then I would probably act a bit more masculine then I do, because I would believe that was expected of me. It certainly does not exist on a larger level anymore (at least not here), but on an individual it is a relevant factor. This is more true for teenagers to young adults who is uncertain about who they are, or how the world views them. (sorry for long rant on silly subject)

I can agree that it might have something to do with the hormones and all that (if you go deep enough everything is just a chemical reaction), and that there is an imbalance there.

No you misunderstood what I said. It has NOTHING to do with gender roles. What causes the feeling of discomfort that trans people report having is a chemical imbalance in the brain or in the body, end of story. Unless you care to DRASTICALLY advance neurology in an attempt to prove that wrong, which would mean finding a better way to observe the brain than what we have now, then there is no reason for you to think otherwise. The reason that it's difficult to say with 100% certainty isn't that they are speculating, but rather it's hard to say just about anything in the study of neurology with 100% certainty due to the nature of the brain and how difficult it is to completely observe, but it is still a scientific theory and scientific theorys are safe to go by.

First off, there are trans who tried just the cross dressing and completely ignored gender roles, and it did nothing because its just a chemical imbalance. For that matter there are plenty of cross dressers and people who just generally ignore gender roles who do not report feeling uncomfortable in their own bodies. Feeling uncomfortable in your own body is only caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain and that is it. Similar to homosexuality, it is not an outside influence. Now if you want to state that outside influences can cause chemical imbalances in the brain that is a different story, however you would have a very hard time proving it, and you aren't even at step one to creating a serious scientific theory with it, thus you aren't in a position to make such claims.

I have never tried to make a scientific claim around it. This is just how I think of it. I am generally open to change that, but generally I like to keep human behavior simple like this in my head. I guess this is something where you could call me willfully ignorant. I have my own way to think of humans, love, etc (call this a illusion or something), to not end up in an existential crisis. I have been down that rabbit hole before. I can know stuff, but think of it in another way to keep me comfortable. As long as I don't try to push the way I think of it as fact on other people, and I know it's a simplification. I think its fine.

that said, I see your points, and while I am not convinced now. I will keep it in the back of my head, and if I find more along the line of what you are saying I might change my mind. no promises

I'm actually curious, and to open another can of worms by the same logic surely homosexuals have a mental disorder as well but after decades of fighting for acceptance we are expected to be accepting of gays today. Well, having male parts when you're transitioning to female really does not help. Me, personally, I wish I didn't have them. I've wanted to be a full woman for a long time--but the sexual reassignment surgery is about 30k dollars, and insurance companies don't always help on that, even when it's to help someone's phsycological damage of having gender dysphoria. Its easily understood that straight dudes want pussy, so it certainly doesn't help me, anyway.
In any case, this article's picture is a clear "duh".
But its something to note there's a help group for people that are feelin down about not having the right parts.
Of course, I don't hit on guys or flirt pretty much because I KNOW the end result is to be turned away once it gets to what's in my pants--but I'm fine with that for now. Once I'm complete, then I'll go looking again. I think it's a little dumb to be getting involved with people while your body isn't right yet, anyway.

maybe look into dating others of the lgbt community? That's how my transfriend finally found a girlfriend. Most straight girls thought he was a masculine girl or a feminine boy.
