Defining a namespace and then not using a function of that namespace.

Because you coded it wrong.

if( hasEggs == false ) {
milk.buy( 1 );
} else if (hasEggs == true ) {
milk.buy( 6 );
}

The key to this is that in the original request, it is never stated that you can buy eggs, only that you can buy milk. You could replace "if they have eggs" with "if it is Tuesday" and from a programmer's perspective, it would have the same form.

Everyone look out, there are some pro coders in the comments who think they're cool and **** . Be prepared because your self esteem will certainly drop when you see how much cooler these people are than you.

don't have to be a coder to get it. I got it, it's a type of gag that has been around since abbot and costello.

It could be the way the mom asked. She said to bring 6 back if there were eggs, but didn't specify which to buy 6 of.

If he is buying Six bottles of milk maybe he is trying to increase his intake of calcium?

I'm not a programmer, and I'm not pretending to be a programmer.
But with the limited knowledge I do have, I could say this.
The way "his mom" gave instructions was fairly unclear.
The message could be interpreted in multiple ways.
"If they have eggs, bring back 6 eggs," or "If they have eggs, bring back 6 bottles of milk."
Computers require more specific instructions than that. She'd have to specify which function she wanted performed if eggs were present. She didn't.
Therefore, the "programmer" should've responded with an error message.
Did I do it guise? Did I sound smart?

You don't have to know anything about code to get the joke?... It can be read as s simple sentence misunderstanding...
User avatar #117 - hellomynameisbill (04/27/2014) [+] (2 replies)
why would you get six individual eggs?

there's a dozen in a carton.

I'm no programmer or coder. I still find it funny.

You'd buy six bottles of milk because you totally misinterpreted the joke.
User avatar #19 - sexplain (04/26/2014) [-]
Non-coders find it funny because while we don't get coding we still get that she wanted 6 eggs not 6 bottles of milk. Your argument is invalid.

Being a Game Developer/Designer, this is at the mirror's edge of stupidity;
You don't have to know Javascript or CSharp to comprehend basic English.
"Buy 1 bottle of milk, if they have eggs, bring 6"
here we have grammar and "trying to be an asshole" grammar, both are right.
We have normal grammar, the one that everybody uses which defines two periods in the sentence, these are:
"Buy 1 bottle of milk" - Subject = Milk
"if they have eggs, bring 6", in this case the subject are the eggs;

In this case normal people would basically bring 6 eggs and 1 bottle of milk;

Then there is the "trying to be an asshole" grammar, also knows as "Literal", that you can see up in the content.

TLR, Being literal, or asshole, does not define you as a programmer genius.

Ps: The code is both right and wrong.

"Pretending to find it funny." Whether they understand it completely or not, I'm pretty sure they find it funny and are not pretending, you **** . Don't act like a smug smartass if you're gonna say stupid **** like that.
