some context? i know matt and trey generally have negotiated themselves to have an unprocessed amount of artistic freedom, but is it something specific that is being referenced?
#4 to #2 - kepesauce (07/26/2014) [-]
Could be wrong, but I think it's referencing when they were trying to put Muhammad into one of their episodes. At the last second Comedy Central censored it or something like that.

Cartoons like the Simpsons would be a bit better if they were a bit more like South Park. Sure, they're all going downhill nowadays, but censorship is the bane of humour. In this country, you're not allow to say certain things because some people might find them offensive; you're not allowed to draw certain characters because some people might find them offensive, and gods forbid you should ever draw certain characters that say certain things and some people find that just as offensive.

Trying to alter a work of art like a cartoon or a book because five people don't like the subject matter is ******** . If they find it offensive, big ******* deal, they find it offensive. If I'm allowed to burn a flag because of freedom of speech, then I should be allowed to go on TV during a children's timeslot and say " **** you", or portray some Islamic prophet regardless of how offended Muslims will be.

Tl;dr - Censor yourself for no one, protect your liberties. No one can take them away.

"Supporting."

I have to agree with the bandwagon - Simpsons has gone to **** and I couldn't care for what the company used to do even before they decided to approve the scripts on all the new stuff. Some poor animator must have drawn a background and thought: "well aren't the writers ******* **** now."?
#7 to #5 - nimithecat ONLINE (07/27/2014) [-]
Animators don't draw backgrounds,a story board animator animates it in a very cheapy-choppy form with instructions, then another one animates the characters in rough sketches with in-between animation to make it fluid, which are then cleaned up by another animator for legibility, and another animator draws nicer-looking versions of the cleaned up sketches and colors them in digitally by tracing over them and using the paint bucket/wand tool, only to have the post processing and outline correction artists make the final touches and it's added to the film/digital video.

Just sayin'... animators don't do backgrounds.

And no, the Simpsons hasn't gone bad, the quality has remained consistent and has been a partial political commentary for more than a decade, with ideals that the conservatives at Fox headquarters are often against. It's a miracle it even airs on that channel.

The simpsons haven't gone bad,you simply outgrew it and have moved on to other shows.Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful day.

no doubt though. I recently discovered Family Guy on netflix, and the swearing actually made it funny. it's like the episodes we see on tv are completely different and not nearly as funny. for ****** sakes, swear in cartoons

I still don't get why South Park can't have Muhammad on their show after Family Guy has aired so many jokes of the same variety, and even having an episode where Peter joins terrorists and almost blows up a bunch of people. Then again they can't swear for some reason, guess saying " **** " was worse than jokes about OJ Simpson or mass suicides.

I did a college report on over censorship in American kids shows. I used Spongebob as an example, dubbed vs subbed Sailor Moon, and others. I believe I got a good grade.

Matt and Trey make one of my favorite shows, but I don't like them seeing as they hate Family Guy and all of it's affiliated shows.

I hate Family Guy and it's affiliated shows too.

Youve not seen censorship until youve tried to watch the Simpsons (or any sitcom) before the watershed on Channel 4. I mean, they remove whole scenes, meaning the following jokes make no ******* sense, and the shows are 3 or 4 minutes shorter.

simpsons are **** now and I do not care about ****

You should be allowed to draw, write or say anything you want. Hurting feelings is no excuse for censorship. Muslims have to realize that their own rules do not apply to people outside Islam. Trying to force your own rules and traditions onto other using threats and violence is terrorism and we must always oppose it.

this is one reason why i download **** , to avoid the whiny whores at the censorship board

like seriously....the show 'drawn together' would have pretty much been half an hour of black screen for all the adult content they had,.....

american dad, family guy and southpark could be better without censorship crapping on them

Why in the world wouldn't we have pictures of Mohammad? Just because a part of the world thinks we shouldn't?
If I am to start a religion in which we would believe that we shouldn't have pictures of George Washington, Winston Churchill or some other historical figure, I can choose not to have their pictures in my home and I can choose not to make pictures like those, but who am I to tell people they can't do something just because of my opinion? It's stupid.
I'd never ask a muslim to paint me a picture of Mohammad if he doesn't want it, but his opinion won't stop me if I someday decide to make a comic about Mohammad.

Free speech is alive and well unless you have a larger ammount of followers / watchers then you are not allowed to say what you want.

Does anyone know where I can watch South Park episode 201 uncensored?
User avatar #45 - feelythefeel (07/27/2014) [-]
So are they scared of censorship or South Park? Because I'd believe either.
