Stuff That's Not About Christmas

billion away, there is a void in
space I billion across.
It is completely empty of both normal matter and
dark matter. It emits no detectable radiation or
light of any kind.

1) The universe is ****** up.
2) We ****** up.
3) We are ****** .

Not mutually exclusives.

they should probably clean the lenses on the telescope

no but seriously i'm sure there's something there that is beyond our understanding of science and the universe. our still primitive minds trying to understand how the universe functions 6 billion light years away is like an ant trying to comprehend human society.

There IS a void in space as they describe though "completely empty" is a bit of an overstatement , but this is a picture of a dust cloud.

it's may be a cloud. the exposure length needed to take this should leave the cloud a slight blur but what the **** do i know.. Cosmic voids are still totally real though

That Hole of nothingness,.... they upgraded hubble and the looked into it. there like 13 billion galaxies visible through that little hole. GG
#43 to #37 - uberbunk (12/23/2015) [-]
Naw, they zoomed in to a space between two stars that appeared void and after maintaining focus on that spot long enough they found it actually had loads of galaxies too dim to be seen without extended exposure. Super Void is void, bb.

It's not a better world if third world countries can't afford clean energy leaving them with no option than having to surrender their countries to first world powers who want to establish a one world government where no country has sovereignty and independance. The evil man always comes dressed as an angel while the good man has to fight back so much he ends up looking like a devil.
User avatar #38 to #35 - sketchE (12/23/2015) [-]
so what would be wrong with a one world government if it was so good the people did it willingly
User avatar #41 to #38 - bongpebbles (12/23/2015) [-]
There is a reason why people celebrate their country's independence so passionately. Tyrants always come out of nowhere and rise to power but when tyrants achieve power over a country, there are other countries willing to fight against him. Now what will happen when the next tyrant rises in a system that has the entire world under its control? If you are being persecuted by the government, where will you flee to if the whole world is the government? If you disagree with the law where would you move to if the whole world now has the same law? In a one world government Eduard Snowden would be in jail or dead.
User avatar #51 to #41 - sketchE (12/23/2015) [-]
i dont se the last part as a problem but thats just me. and as i said if it works why not? say we used the current US system and people actually used it right. a system where any elected official can be removed if enough people want him out. a system where the person elected represents the majority of the peoples opinion not a quarter of the peoples since only 60 percent of the populace votes. again. if we put in a system that actually works, why not?

and im sure in a situation where the world agrees people can celebrate unity day
User avatar #52 to #51 - bongpebbles (12/23/2015) [-]
Yeah but remember that now all 7 billion people on earth will be voting on your elections. In a one world government whites become a minority. The Amwrican constitution will be dismissed and a new one will be creates. Most people in the world are religious so forget about legal gay marriage, legal weed, right to bare arms, etc. If your voice is barely heard in a 350 million population system, imagine how miniscule will it be on a 7.7 billion population system.
User avatar #53 to #52 - sketchE (12/23/2015) [-]
again that may be debatable. i dont know the population of africa or how it compares to the rest of the world but they will probably have a big swing for right to bare arms. asia is generaly atheist and with china have over a billion people they will say no religions at all or allow religious freedom. the issue in the US is not enough people are making their voice heard. our turnout rates are horrible. to me thats the biggest thing. if the entire world came together and said this is how we want it run wed probably find a nice middle ground.
User avatar #54 to #53 - bongpebbles (12/23/2015) [-]
But the world is not coming together saying we want this. People actually like their sovereignty. You say you wouldn't have a problem with Snowden being in jail but wouldn't that lead to a very corrupt system?. A system where if anybody finds corruption, rights violations or signs of tyranny in the system they will chose to shut up because they would have no place to flee to if they warn the people? It would be a monopoly on life itself. If the price of life rises too much then you would just have to suck it because there is no other place to go to. Workers become as disposable as Mc Donalds employees because companies can now hire anyone from the world willing to do what you do for cheaper. No unions, no strikes will prevail.

You think it's good because you assume that it will be like the USA, that the rest of the world will turn into america and adapt to it. But once again, in this system westerners will be a minority. Why do you think then that western values and laws are the ones who will prevail? Atheists are 14% of the population world wide. Do you want the entire middle eastern muslim population voting for your president? The world had never coexisted in peace with one single goal in mind and neve will. Look at europe, two traditions clash and everyone goes nuts. The only one who can benefit from this are the wealthy and corrupt elite class.
User avatar #56 to #54 - sketchE (12/24/2015) [-]
well thats the point now isnt it. i said if the world came together and wanted it from the very beginning. snowdens case is debatable honestly. he commited a crime and then fled the country because of it. while what he revealed was immoral it was well within the bounds of what the government was allowed to do. see the elasticity clause.

and you keep saying nowhere to go like there wont be patches of people completely opposed to it that they can hide in. el chapo escaped form a prison in mexico and still lives in mexico. something you fail to realize is that if it was like the US we would still have some semblance of sovereignity. and the assumptions that unions or strikes would be completely outlawed is ludicrous. not to mention that every company will be completely morally bankrupt is along the same lines of crazy.

i dont assume it would be like the US. im presenting my model for a working one world government. the reason western ideologies valujes and laws would prevail is because wed make them that way. imagine the entire world decides to make one government. half of the world says they want it one way. the half with all of the money says they want it the other way or theyre leaving. pretty damn effective.

and on the religious part while only 14 percent of the world is religiousthe muslim population is only 6 precent above them. the actual percents are 16 for non religious and 21.5 for muslims this means the world would likely be led by a christian. if the remaining groups didnt account for 32 percent of the population. most would probably agree to religious freedom.

like i said if the world were to come together under a single US or western style government where everyone participates i think the world would find a nice neutrality. sure it isnt great for everyone but it doesnt completely suck for a vast majority of people

incase anyones wondering, that void picture isnt the actual void the text is talking about, who ever made that picture is a jackass

not true. Space is mostly empty, however, this is a gas cloud several hundred light years across.

inside you have material that gives birth to star eg Hydrogen, helium, ect.

Gravity collapses and brings these materials together forming a prostar.

eventually it will start nuclear fusion and fuse hydrogen atoms to make helium/other elements.

thats when it becomes a star, gravity pulls them apart and takes them farther apart due to the singularity still expanding at a fast rate.
