More like this I'd assume.
Because it wasn't funny

It was witty. We're 17 comps in, and no one made that one before, soit does deserve at least appreciation.

Tbh I liked it. And it appears that at least 400 other people did as well.

You know, when I typed that, I meant it in an endearing sort of way.
Now I see that know one else thought that.

Seriously though, was this meant to make her change her mind?

"Oh, you play soccer? Sorry for bothering you, I'll call off the police, your heart is clearly in the right place. Have a nice day."

that **** made so uncomfortable for both parties. after i heard she went to ralphs (the gorcery store) i started to feel bad because my family has been in situations where i felt this was the only option left to survive (i didnt however, for that exact reason above). im pretty sure that wasnt the situation but you can never just assume someone's position in life, becuase they might have kids themselves even at 19. i think confronting her at work may have been unnecessary beucase now she might have to continue stealing from other people to survive, unless shes one of the rich kids who steals just to steal in which case she had all this coming.
#98 to #38 - akaito (01/09/2016) [-]
Non american here, why is going to Ralphs a bad implication?
User avatar #100 to #98 - dtox (01/09/2016) [-]
Its a grocery store, implying she stole to possibly buy neccesities such as food.

Its not a bad implication to buy from ralphs, but for someone who is only 19 years old to steal in order to buy from a grocery store might mean that they're a fair bit of desperate.

Still doesnt make it ok, just saying.
#123 to #100 - ciacheczko (01/09/2016) [-]
Or maybe she just went there to get herself a soda after work, and stole that money for entirely another reason? Just because someone who steals visits a grocery store, it doesn't mean he stole money specifically to buy food. After all, everyone goes to grocery stores, because everyone has to eat, so this doesn't really imply anything.

Just like we shouldn't assume she didn't have an understandable reason to resort to stealing, we shouldn't assume that she had one either.

On a side note. I guy I knew told me a story. He once was in a financial situation so dire he had to steal food to survive. And he got caught once. The security guy had seen his desperation and let him off the hook, didn't do anything. Eventually this guy worked himself back up, came back to the same store and gave this security man more than enough money to cover for the stuff he's taken before.

So there's stealing by copying credit information, and there's this. If the chick had actual capacity to steal multiple credit card information, I doubt she had the same problem.
#128 to #123 - anon (01/09/2016) [-]
She spent $200+ according to the woman in the car. It's still possible she bought $200+ worth of junk, but maybe she took the opportunity to stock up on supplies because she wanted to avoid "needing" to steal again.

I mean, stealing is stealing, and dealing with it can come down to what's right/kind (in a humanitarian sense) to what's just. The woman in the car took what could be considered the just route, while that security guard took the kind route.

It's hard to tell with kids. "Are you a little **** or are you desperate?" One thing about the Starbucks girl I admired is she immediately fessed up. She didn't even bother trying to lie. Still, she's a thief, and somewhere down the line, she either got greedy or mismanaged her money.

User avatar #133 to #100 - obesehobbo (01/09/2016) [-]
it sucks that she would have to steal to get food but she should at least try to use an federal aid instead.
#140 to #133 - anon (01/09/2016) [-]
Getting federal aid is getting harder and harder these days. The right is so completely convinced that 99% of people receiving aid are just living it up in middle class, eating steaks and buying brand new cars.

When really the numbers of people so far receiving aid caught living beyond their meanings is something like under 5%. The vast majority of people receiving aid need it. Many more of us need it as well, it's little wonder so many people of my generation are killing themselves because they can't afford a place to live or food to eat or the basic necessities of living in today's society - hell you even need money to get a job, IF you can anyway.

However they've been trying to short funding for federal aid, and have been fouling up the process so fewer and fewer people get their cases reviewed for acceptance or rejection. I'm physically crippled and have severe, nearly random memory issues - I've been searching for a job I can perform and not be fired as a liability for for twelve years. Soon as I hear the right's been up in arms about a single shill in the program, I come to find out my case and a ton of others have been shelved or are in what amounts to a holding pattern.

Stale bread and water for years now's not really helping.

Theft is going to become more common like this. I'd be lying if I said I haven't considered it.
User avatar #146 to #140 - obesehobbo (01/10/2016) [-]
this is very true
#77 to #38 - anon (01/09/2016) [-]
Honestly, no. It's your own bad life choices that lead to someone having a kid at 19 and committing credit fraud. Especially doing something that's so easy to track down and punish, further driving you down societies ladder since you aren't getting rehired at starbucks with a charge like that.

The sort of person who makes the choice to commit credit fraud is usually stupid enough to get into a situation where that even entered their head.
User avatar #14 to #4 - YllekNayr (01/08/2016) [-]

User avatar #81 to #41 - teepoteater (01/09/2016) [-]
Well at least the dumb bitch wont try stealing from someone again. Whether the money belongs to the card holder or not, it's ******* low and horrible to steal someone's credit card information. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
#150 to #41 - sacrilegious (01/11/2016) [-]
I dunno. A scene would have been inside the restaurant, out here no one saw but the parties involved. I think she just wanted to embarrass her and make sure she never did it again. I think she went on too long but the kid did apologize.
#116 to #41 - anon (01/09/2016) [-]
It will be a lesson to never try that **** again. People don't earn their money just so some kid can steal it. I hope she goes to prison

From the way she reacted to getting caught, she's probably not a hardened criminal. You can try to steal money and still be afraid of being sent to jail and becoming much, much worse.

why did she bring that up? like saying she plays soccer was gonna help her case.
#135 to #36 - malexandercalamity (01/09/2016) [-]
Playing soccer means:
-You're probably still in school, where there are soccer teams.
-You're probably healthy, so you're not on drugs.
-You're probably not a pregnant teenager.

I'd say it's a pretty good and concise way to say "I'm not a totally lost cause, please don't send me to jail and make me a hardened criminal".
User avatar #136 to #135 - thejusticar (01/09/2016) [-]
