its a phrase to describe distance from place to place and he is saying real estate people lie about distance to sell land or buildings like "this house is a stone throw to the mall" and its 20 miles away

To celebrate moving into a new house, in Europe, the moving family walks out of the house to the moving truck as the new family and real estate agent pelt them with rocks. Real estate agents commonly have strong wrists from all the paperwork they do, but bad eyesight from the eye strain, and generally overthrow their mark for miles. If a stone from a different agent hits your outwards family (moves in the same neighborhood are generally scheduled together), it's considered good luck for the new family.

Protip I learned house shopping: If the listing provides no pictures of the exterior and 5 of the 7 pictures are taken in the one good room; it's probably definitely a complete shack.

for those who dont know.. the joke is that real estate agents can throw a rock much farther than those other things...and real estate agents commonly say its only a stones throw away from someplace.. when in reality your house is much further than that

When my family moved (was 10 years ago now) our agent was pretty good.
"This house is perfect for a family with young children."
Elementary school is two block to the East, middle school is two blocks to the North.
Pretty hard to beat being able to rock walk down to either one in about six minutes.

hmm, well the relative distances are grossly inaccurate but the joke is solid.
