I also have been working ten hour shifts every day but one since star wars came out. My legs hurt. I'm tired. But the amount of money I'm supposed to be making should be super worth it.
Cinemark. As a relatively new manager I'm making just under ten an hour.
We're in small-town Texas, too. So people are mostly friendly, work isn't disgustingly grueling, and our head manager is a boss-hog at his job so he had the whole thing set up to go more smoothly.
The worst part was that all of my usher team was full of invalids because we hired whoever could hold a broom with virtually no training before the movie came out. Since movies weren't selling amazingly before SW, we couldn't schedule people to be consistent. And hiring a bunch of 17yr old highschool kids is just... terrible. Nobody wants to earn money. Just be handed it.
Great job. Currently difficult staff. Until mid-january.
I also work in a cinema but its pretty small it has 5 screens an only 3 of them fit more than 150 people in them but its mainly cleaning up after a screening that had 150+ people in and it doesn't help people are ******* scum an leave allsorts behind for you to clean, i **** you not i have come across ; dirty nappies(diapers),half eaten fruit, vomit in a bag and 3 full rows of seats with popcorn on the floor!! you couldn't see any of the bloody floor! but thats the jest of it for me anyways
cleaning up theaters, stocking everything from straws and lids and the soda machines, checking tickets, gathering and compacting trash, mopping spills, and helping out whoever because i'm everyone's bitch
I work in a pretty big theatre (24 theatres 4 that hold 500+) and I love it, and what that other guys described is only ushering, you also pull shifts in the box office, hot foods, taking tickets and working the register. It's not bad, it doesnt pay amazingly even if you progress in a the management but its great for a job that you can work the hours around school, since the busiest times are when people typically dont have class. Plus its pretty cool to work behind the scenes and it adds a lot of different types of work experience to your resume.
It's something I've considered doing in my off time since I really like movies and the work doesn't sound stressing in comparison to what I do - aka the other type of theatre - aka live production.
Sure it's nothing special and as you would say doesn't pay a whole lot but I also don't ask for a whole lot so it works out in the end.
Yeah, they just get 1.5x the pay for hours over 40. There isn't any legal definition of full-time or part time, it's up to the employer how many hours a week constitutes full-time, and what benefits full-time workers get.
My job is to clean the building after the movies.
I also have another job making pizzas which everybody prefers over home cooking.
How do you think I feel?
At least so far it hasn't been as bad as Mockingjay Part 2 was. So far. I've only been there 1/5 days this week, so uh... good times.
I guess you must make a damn good pizza then. In my area we've tried like 3 pizza places already and none compared to what we do at home. You got me curious there.
I have been told MANY times that we make "the best pizzas I/we've ever had". Which is a bit ironic, since I prefer Pizza Hut. Even more ironically, we have a Pizza Hut, two other stores EXACTLY like ours in the same company (with newer and less ****** equipment too, because **** us) and two more pizza places. To make it even weirder, our store is primarily a gas station/mini general store.
We don't even have any kind of special **** like stuffed crust or the green olives that way too many people ask for.
You wanna know what the busiest and ********* day of the year is for us? Thanksgiving.
Instead of the ********* of "traditional" home-cooked turkey and ham and potatoes and whatever, people want pizza. Like, what the actual **** .
Well hot damn, that thanksgiving part made me kinda upset.
Currently I'm in a foreign country, and, along with my partner, can't afford visiting family for christmas. It's still our first year here, so while the financial situation is somewhat stable, it is far from perfect yet. So I spent this entire day on cleaning and managed to cook at least some of the traditional dishes we eat at this time, because hey - christmas is a nice time of the year, was part of my growing up, and the athmosphere is valuable in my humble opinion.
To hear that people find some of their traditional days so meaningless they go order a pizza instead of cooking an actual dinner is slightly depressing.
Some ****** spoiled the movie for me the other day. I was minding my own business playing a game and his name was the ******* spoiler. What do these people even ******* achieve its infuriating. Sorry for the rant guys but imagine if you've been waiting for something for years and then some asshole goes along and ***** on your hopes and dreams.
**** these people man I honestly don't understand their mindset.
I disagree.
The actor is perfect for the character, cause the character is some whiny teenage sith with daddy issue.
Let's see what they do with him in the next episodes.
i've seen the movie, you don't have to walk on eggshells around me. i think his hair and face mostly fit as a son of luke and leia. i did see another guy say his nose is too big, that might be right.
I'm just keeping it safe for the people who read the comments I don't see the hair at all due to the color, his skin tone and facial structure don't match either of them at all, with his face being much longer than luke, han, or leia.
That was my issue with him, was that he was basically the same as Anakin Skywalker, but then I realised that that was intentional, and got back to enjoying that ******* awesome movie.
i think the hair fits with it being a match of leias straight hair plus hans slightly curly hair. his face is kinda long, but i think it too fits. hans face isn't that long, but its long enough. he does have a large distance between where his chin ends and his mouth. i mean, what do you think the offspring of leia and han would look like?
**battletechmech used "*roll picture*"** **battletechmech rolled image** obviously it'd be difficult to find a proper mix between them, but a hair color that corresponds to the characters original hair color, light brown, a paler complexion, a more defined jaw line leading to what what'd look like a fuller face, and probably thinner lips of course now I just sound like a white supremicist, we'll throw in a roll for whacky context
imo kylo already has pretty stick thin lips. i can't remember much about the movie but maybe a lighter hair color, dyed perhaps would work. i also think he's pretty pale in the movie already, and i know pale. a more full jawline might look better, but other than that i don't really see things from your perspective.
That's fine, this is hardly the most "pressing matter" with the star wars film, it was fun discussing it anyhow. btw I don't give a **** about the major complaints of the movie, I liked it better than the prequels, and that's all it has to do in my opinion.
He wasn't fighting to kill, he was fighting to test himself. If you see it again, pay attention to how Kylo's acting. He knocks Finn down, then punches his own wound instead of finishing him. He's not trying to win, just to see how he'd do in a real fight.
Probably not, but he's still a young Padawan looking to test himself - like you said - and doesn't have the cold, focused hate that more experienced Sith do. I have a feeling the next movie will show him as more competent.
I noticed that too. I thought it was pretty neat that they choreographed it that well to make it actually look like Kylo actually knew a thing or two compared to Fin.
He was pretty badly hurt by Chewie, and it seemed like the pain was kinda distracting him. Also, the raw emotion of what he just did moments before would make it pretty tough to focus in the middle of a fight.
Kylo Ren wasnt finished with his own training. he wasnt "almost" beaten, he beat fin pretty damn thoroughly. Han Solo completely let his gaurd down for his son, it makes sense that he was killed by him. Likewise, Fin didnt find the lightsaber, Rei did.
