I've already seen it enough so thumbing you down wont do anything
I really don't get why people look at the comments on Star Wars content and then are amazed when there are spoilers in there... This site is full of trolls, i don't get why people actually trust this site sometimes
You have a point Star wars spoiler should speak for itself, BTW you posted your spoiler a bit earlier than the big -200 troll in this thread Fight club is still a very popular movie, but i would not be surprised if some people didnt see it, and if so, you basically spoiled the whole plot for them A lot of people (including me) haven't seen the last Harry Potter movie, so i did not know that Dobby was going to die, even though i never really liked him in the first place That last comment was just mean
I actually didn't post it before him. I saw it, that's why I even commented what I did in the first place, because it had already been said. I haven't even seen the movie. Fight club is almost 15 years old. I assumed people who cared about harry potter would've read the book already, sorry about that one.
The last comment was a joke. She loves you very much
Why does everyone just accept this? Father just walks up out of no where, deactivates your robot son and says; 'no I'm your son.' Not to mention the game calls him Father throughout the ENTIRE thing, even after whatever ending you chose.
I know that nothing really points towards it and it's canon but it just doesn't make sense.
I mean, Kellogg is like 107 years old and still looks like he's 37,still kicks all sorts of ass, ect. They stopped his aging and turned him into a cyborg or some **** but they didn't do it for the person responsible for pushing the Institute into a whole new spectrum of technology?
Just seems fishy to me and I will forever head canon that Father is a liar and a future DLC has you recover your real son.
To be honest, they couldn't have made him look much less human. He only chose to have the helmet as a stylistic choice, not to hide his severily burned face.
I think you guys are missing the point. The fact that he looks like a kid, has a short temper, and doesn't fully seem to know what he's doing was carefully thought out when they created his character. He's meant to be this conflicted vader fanboy with an ego and something to prove. Ren's hatred isn't fueled by power or anger, it's driven by fear--fear that he will never live up to vader or that all his learning will be for nothing.
A lot of the movie seemed to be making fun of Star Wars in general... like this is the least serious we'll see. "Why are you holding my hand to run, I can run just fine." "It's kind of hard to understand you with that whole apparatus" "GASP! A WOMAN IN TROUBLE MUST SAVE HER! Oh wait, she can handle herself."
Like it was trying to be some sort of trope destroying hero.
ACTUAL SPOILER!!!: its something about the new film i wanna say
the way the trailers told about finn and the lightsaber made me thing he was gonna be the new jedi, i liked the switcheroo with the girl, and im ******* calling it if luke is her father
Rey's dad is Luke's grandfather, Anakkin's father.
He is this invisible creature made of midiclorians that travels the galaxy and gets women on desert planets pregnant.
He didn't. But we never saw HIS dad. So why not have HIS deadbeat dad be Rey's Not removed, just not going to be mentioned anymore. Nothing that's in old movies is removed, its all canon. But parts people hate won't be used anymore.
nah dog im calling it, right now, ray is not luke's daughter. when she was abandoned by her family, she was old enough to know who they were, if she knew luke was her father she would have said something to Leigha or fin at some point in the movie. there is no good reason why they wouldnt have told us she was lukes daughter by the end of this film if she really was his daughter. especially when ray was telling leihha that she needed to go back to jokuu to wait for her family. my guess is that even if ray is force sensitive, she isnt actually related to luke and is instead the child of another famous jedi. my theory is that Fin is actually lukes son. reasons for this si that when they mentioned that their was an awakening to the force out there, the screen immediately cut to fin, not ray. also making ray lukes daughter would be the most obvious and boring decision they could possibly make and i dont think they would go hard on something that obvious when they have a perfectly good chance to surprise us .
I think they'd know Rey if Luke was her father, and I don't think Luke would leave her on Jakku. I think the second student he was training with Kylo is his child.
There is, and it's even stronger than the old Death Star. Somehow the defeated empire is stronger than ever, except it's not an empire either, it's the First Order.
Plenty of ******** but it's a fun movie, solid 6/10.
I think JJ was looking to get the feel right for Star Wars rather than a great story. He definitely got the feel right, with a little more comedy, so hopefully he feels confident enough for focusing on a better story for Ep. 8.
the new base is 4 times bigger, its a weaponized planet callled starkiller base, it sucks up all the energy of a nearby star until it dissapears, and shoots a giant fire lazer across space and can destroy up to 5 planets at once
This is what I was thinking. Since we have no word about Mara or Ben Skywalker It also bugs the hell out of me that they gave Han and Leia's kid the name of Luke's kid.
I thought about it, but i also thought Ben's sister was Luke apprentice as well, and that ben already killed her. That would be why Luke and Han were so remorseful. I even thought that in someway, Rai may be Luke daughter (The way he stare at her at the end), even if we didnt heard about Mara yet (maybe 8th movie?)
Mara Jade is definately not a part of a new canon. Kassadan who wrote Empire Strikes Back and is main writer for the new trilogy said that "Luke marrying an emperor's assasin is such a bad cliche."
He really did lmao. I still think it's BS that he had better skills with the saber than Ray did, yet she's the one to defeat Ren. Made him look like a punk for no reason.
You have to remember that Finn was a stormtrooper, so he's had at least some basic training. The difference between him and Rey is that she's Force-sensitive and he isn't. The series flat out states that a lightsaber is much less effective when the wielder isn't attuned to the Force, which may I remind you, allows you to read the emotions of your opponent and have limited precognition.
Now that I think about it, you're right. I knew all of that, but decided not to piece it all together lol. The only reason she won was because of the force, not because of her actual skill. You're right lol.
the whole movie is just a copy of the original star wars (a new hope) jar jar abrams did to star wars the same thing he did to star trek when he remade wrath of khan. i cannot for the love of god figure out why everyone keeps praising that man as a brilliant director.
the plot's unoriginal but the characters and dialogue are great. I don't think he'll get away with it if the second one's as derivative of the old movies. I think it's much much better than the prequels, which I didn't expect at all
true. the movie itself was enjoyable enough. the special effects weren't as overdone as in the prequels. the redesigned xwings and storm troopers looked great as well.
but i just can't get over the copy/paste plot and a lot of plotholes beside that.
chewie's gun blasts the ground and the stormtroopers go flying like 15 feet.
he shoots ren and he bleeds a little.
in empire strikes back, it takes luke like 30 seconds to force pull his lightsaber to him. and that's after he knew about the force for some time.
meanwhile rey can use jedi mind tricks and pulls her saber in an instant after basically just learning that the force, jedi, and sith exist.
Yeah I hadn't seen this image before the movie came out, apparently some anon made it a few months ago. The entire film I sat thinking I should be enjoying it but for some reason I wasn't. I saw this picture this morning and instantly realized that it was because I watched the same god damn movie 8 hours earlier that day (went through the OT before watching TFA). I'm actually not even looking forward to the next film now. I'm going to keep my VHS special edition of the OT and that is the only Star Wars I will ever know. I'm done w the franchise.
Actually, it makes more sense for Rey to pick up the Force training faster than Luke because she grew up on the stories surrounding it. Meanwhile Luke literally found out about it in a day and was successfully blocking blaster bolts hours later.
Ren himself is powerful because he's Anakin's descendant, but he's still obviously a trainee. He's nowhere near Obi-Wan's level in Phantom Menace, so it makes sense that Rey could hold her own against him, even when he's wounded.
As for the plot, yeah it's pretty much ANH with some of ESB thrown in, but that doesn't necessarily make it bad. This movie was a homage to and continuation of the original trilogy, it has plenty of room to cover new ground.
"ren is anakin's descendant"
implying they won't reveal rey as luke's daughter or something, surprising no one in the process.
and i find that homage is too good a word to describe the force awakens.
i fully expect AT AT's in the next one, preferably on a hot molten planet (as a contrast to hoth). and rey being absent for most of the movie while training with yoda luke on dagobah whatever that planet is called
sorry if i'm salty, i just can't take the movie or jj abrams seriously right now.
Rey will likely be more present in the sequel, Luke spent so much time away in ESB partly because he had to find Yoda first. Rey already met Luke by the movie's end.
It's likely that Rey is related to Luke as well, but it's also likely that she just happens to be Force-sensitive. Hell, for all we know she could be Obi-Wan's granddaughter, that's how little we know.
i just figured she would be related to luke since she got hit with the force stuff after touching the saber. and that saber does have a history of going from father to son. but now that i think about it it's probably too obvious.
Was anyone else super disappointed with that stormtrooper general, she looked ******* badass and then they just killed her off screen for the sake of a joke
Yeah I was hoping they would morph her into this trilogies Jango Fett-esque character. Could have been cool but they make that stupid trash compactor joke
Phasma got off the base, she's confirmed to be returning in the sequel. I think the reason she was introduced here was to build up a story between her and Finn so come the third movie the big showdown's maybe her vs Finn and Ray vs Ren/Snoke. Buy introducing her now they just cut the screen time to do it in the next one, she will have a larger role to play in the sequel's.
I was also disappointed by her lack of actual influence in the movie, but the tension and feeling of betrayal from one of her soldiers that will be taken into the sequels to be built on is the only reason I think she was in the first movie. As well as introducing her.
wasn't sure about some of scenes of Finn at the start. The last half was pretty epic with the fight scenes and final ending scene. Cant believe they made another 'Deathstar' and blew it up again
Visuals: Great
Acting: Mostly good
Plot: are you ******* kidding me?
Other points: Far too much fanboy service. The amount of humour and emotions felt just right. If you have seen Episode IV, there is no suspense in Ep. VII since the entire plot follows the exact same patterns. Also, the "bad guy" is a joke Barely winning a lightsaber fight against a stormtrooper who doesn't even feel the force? And then losing against someone who never has held a lightsaber in her entire life? Really?
**** you I loved the fanboy service I actually liked rem, I feel he can be an amazing conduit to just what the dark side can turn a person into, and remember he's still pretty young so he isn't exactly supposed to be threatening
I kinda liked Kylo Ren, too. I just think they made it too easy for the good guys to win. Hopefully he will become more of a threat in the next movies. I mean, he can mindread, he should become really badass, playing mindgames with the Jedi etc. If not, it would be a wasted opportunity for the sakes of making the movies more "family friendly".
Well, considering that Kylo was wounded before the duel (Being shot by chewie after killing Han) and hed did almost kill Finn by slashing his back, i would say he's pretty darn good considreing that he's not a proper Sith/Dark Jedi.
I think Kylo got too used to be being OP against dudes with blasters. And modern stormtroopers had plenty of melee weapon training so it makes sense he could hold his own a bit against Kylo who still had a huuuuge wound from Chewie's big ass gun. And Rey could definitely hold her own because she was really skilled at weapon based combat. She kicked plenty of ass with that staff and she's clearly strong with the force.
**mastercolossus used "*roll picture*"** **mastercolossus rolled image**i would like to impregnate carrie fisher.
<t his is the sith guy in force awakens
I absolutely loved the movie. Think its the best movie ive seen for quite some time. I think the super fans just go into movies ready to hate it and focus on nothing but flaws so they can still bitch in the end.
I've got some spoilers here for you Snape kills dumbledore luke is darth vaders father Jet fuel actually can melt steel beams REY IS OBI-WANS GRANDDAUGHTER
