I understand that some people don't like anime, but I think most are just waaaaay to opposed to it. It's not just fan service, there are plenty of good serious anime. The again, anime has it's fair share of annoying fans, so maybe we should just kill all the extremists. (both for and against)
how do you not see the lack of diversity here? you cant use a few unique characteristics to define an entire genre. besides art style wasn't even my main point.
How do you not see the diversits here? Did you even look? it's about the same as all western animation when it comes to diversity, and even mroe so considering it's coming from a single country.
So what would you use if not unique characteristics? It's animation, it's all it has.
And it wasn't your main point? But...that's pretty much all you said.
sorry about the thumbnail.
when im watching tv if i change my channel to anime i have no clue what im looking at. its so hard to tell between art styles.
i could be watching almost anything.
when i change to cartoons i know immediately im watching the simpsons because people are ******* yellow. adventure time, spongebob, power puff girls, kung fu panda and lego nijago or whatever its called are all incredibly unique from each other
and this
story set up was horrible, characters were unoriginal, voice acting was awful(not to mention the fact that every single voice actor sounds the same) and the themes are incredibly stupid.(idk if you saw this or just ignored it).
I don't know which anime you're talking about, but believe me when I tell you II know quite a lot about this, seeing as I'm almost finished with my animation college.
What you don't get is that anime you see on American television is **** , in 99% of the cases. It's just super basic popular anime that get broadcasted most of the time. English voice actors dubbing anime are beyond horrible, with only like 3 examples where it's not true.
Also, distinguishing between the Simpsons and Spongebob is not just a matter of style. It's just that in one case the character is a ******* sponge. If there was an anime with a sponge character you bet you'd recognize it. American styles share as much similarity between them as anime does, with anime in some cases being more original ( like Gankutsuou, you won't find anything like it in any American styles).
It's also a matter of culture. To you these characters might seem so different while they all share some core similarities you can't see because you grew up with them. Same with anime. It all shares a similarity while each being a bit different, with some being a lot different.
1) i agree with your second statement
2) i agree that so much is lost in translation of both language and cultures
3) i dont hate you
4) im not a fanatic
5) i dont hate all anime
6) i hate people who follow the culture ignorantly
7) you keep ignoring everything else ive said about anime besides the art style.
8) you agreed that english voice acting is ******* awful.
9) there are like 7500 animes. vast majority of them are clones of themselfs and suck.
thats all im saying
To be fair, most cartoons are closely similar as well.
For example: Homer Simpson and Peter Griffon are both drunk, over weight (and slightly dumb) dads who care about their kids and through various shenanigans, help them out.
youve abandoned your argument. now youre just saying american cartoons are jut as bad. therefore agreeing with my statement that most animes are similiar. remember that i did not argue that american shows were not similar
I never disagreed with that fact that most anime are similar. I just said they looked different. With so much Anime, it'd be weird if they weren't similar plot-wise. That's just how you make something popular. When people like certain themes, they occur more.
American shows are the same for the same reason. I'm saying this because most of the people who despise anime say that American is better. That's not necessarily true. They're really just the same thing from different cultures.
I'm not purposefully ignoring everything but the artstyle, I must have missed what else you said. I know you mentioned horrible set up and characters but I'm not sure in what context.
almost every single anime that i have ever watched was horrible. story set up was horrible, characters were unoriginal, voice acting was awful(not to mention the fact that every single voice actor sounds the same) and the themes are incredibly stupid. the only anime to this day that i have enjoyed is soul eater, and that was only the first seasons
It's not really most, just that the only ones people ever hear about are the weabs, because they make the most noise so to speak. Nobody ever hears about the majority of the anime fans because they're not obnoxious faggots about the fact that they like anime.
If there are in fact people like that, i don't really know.
One could however use the argument, that you can't simplify anime into a single thing.
If someone were to say that they don't like any books at all, it seems a bit unlikely due to the sheer number of different books, stories and so on.
Same with movies (claim that you don't like movies at all) or tv shows. Because while the concept of a tv show is quite clear, that doesn't make breaking bad nearly the same thing as How i met your mother.
Likewise, i should think it would be quite difficult to find a person who is actually capable of disliking ALL anime.
So while everyone shouldn't like anime as a whole, almost everyone should be able to like some parts of it. If it is a niche, it is a niche in the same way that books, tv shows and movies are niches.

I have no idea, why i wrote such a long post... I apologise.
I don't think many people honestly think that everyone should like Anime. Sure there might be a small amount of people like that but they're huge fags who everybody hates.
And? People who like anything do that **** , people who like warhammer constantly post their 40k reaction pics, just block the people who post it and get over it.
What a lot of people don't seem to realize is that there are more anime series than just the school-girl-panty-shot and the ************* ones. There's really good action ones, along with really good ones from all other genres.
I admit I once thought anime was for fat nerds with no life who all hugged body pillows til they fell asleep. I got pushed to watch Cowboy Bebop. Now here I am over a year later just having finished my 145th anime series.
I've yet to meet anyone who tries watching an actual GOOD anime series and then still talks **** on anime afterwards, they're just good shows, plain and simple.
