Oh yeah? Then why are they persecuting Edwards Snowden and the likes for publicizing classified documents? If they aren't doing anything wrong, they have nothing to be afraid of. and **** using national security as an argument

It upsets me how little people actually know about the NSA's surveillance. I'm not upset that people don't know its going on, I'm upset at what people think is happening. They ARE NOT listening to your phone conversations and reading your tweets. They ARE collecting all of your meta-data such as websites visited, people contacted, things bought, etc. Not because they are going to go through an examine all of it, but because if you do decide to break the law and shoot up a school/bomb something, they can map out any connections and find out why/how you did what you did.

The NSA's job is not to preemptively stop crimes or terrorist acts, its to help deter and prevent future ones. It also aims at finding out who is responsible for illegal acts, and how they can stop them.

Honestly, the meta-data is already in the hands of another corporation that you have no control over. Unless you agreed to a non-sharing terms of service agreement, they can do whatever the **** they want with this data that you've shared. If you already trust these corporations (which cannot be prosecuted for invading your privacy if they read your **** ) then why are you upset that the government now has it (someone who potentially could be charged with invasions of privacy given the correct circumstances)?

TL;DR: The NSA doesn't read **** , just collects it in case they ever do need to read it.
