I've always found the term 'speciesism' amusing. As if thinking animals are below us is a bad thing. It is not 'speciesism' or 'bigoted' to think we are superior to all of Earth's other (currently known) life forms where it counts (which is intelligence), it is a fact. And until we encounter another sapient life form on par with us, 'speciesism' will remain ******** outside of the minds of vegans and fantasy/sci-fi writers.

Even if something else is sentient does not make it on par with us, what if we find a race of sentient aliens who aren't even on par with downs syndrome people?
Humans will always be the greatest.

We are superior to earth's life in all ways. Strength and speed too.

A bulldozer and a jet plane are our own forms of artificial evolution

By that logic it's not immoral or wrong for an alien species to invade our planet, steal all our resources and kill us all for food.... since they're more intelligent than us and all.

Not a vegan btw.... just someone who's aware of my own hypocrisy.

Ehh, that depends on whether the ayylmaos judge based on intelligence (in which case we very likely may not be as intelligent as them), or sapience (in which case intelligence gaps don't really matter, a species is either sapient or it isn't.)

People who are preachy about being vegan are super annoying. So are people who are preachy about NOT being vegan.

The same goes for a lot of things honestly.

It doesn't, it's "Science" according the children raised by the hippie generation. most of the vegan "Science" is fake, like a lot of "facts" you can find on the internet. Something happened in the last 30 years, Science stopped being objective moving away from "come up wit ha hypothesis, test it and throw it out if proved false" to "make a hypothesis, fake numbers to make it true and call any one who denies it a science denier" This is just one example of many.

The production and maintenance of livestock has a massive ecological footprint, that is not vegan gibberish, it is a fact. Wether or not that is important enough (compared to industry and other forms of pollution) to change eating habits, is another question

Basically if you'd gotten the same calories and nutrients from a grain and a bean (for whole protein) there'd be much less damage to the environment and you'd have ingested less saturates, more fiber and vitamins, blah blah
#7 to #4 - grantyboy (01/26/2015) [-]
The cow must be fed and watered for years to provide much less meat, so the calorie efficiency of meat if far lower than plant material. It also has to be cooked, processed, transported more tfor the different stages or processing. Cows respire and fart and need open pastures (which require deforestation). Their feed was fertilised and comes from large, intensive monocultures yada yada yada

Not even vegan but just because they're uppity does not mean they're wrong. She is correct.
User avatar #11 to #7 - boomerpyro ONLINE (01/26/2015) [-]
but meat contains important nutrients that plants lack, do you want your nervous system to cannibalize itself just because you eat green?
at a balanced meal for ***** sake we're omnivores and we evolved to survive with one foot in each pile of arguments
#19 to #11 - anon (01/26/2015) [-]
Surviving on a meat-free diet is perfectly possible, most proteins can be obtained from beans and similar vegetables. I have a friend who was on a meat-free diet because of health reasons and he did just find (was much skinnier than the rest though, admitted).

Apart from that, though, **** it all, bacon is too goddamn delicious to pass

I had a friend that was vegan because he just liked animals. Didn't bother anybody about it because he knows the awesome taste of ribs though, so good for him.

Given he was a cunt for other reasons but that's besides the point.

Vegans are like Jehova's Witnesses, Femenists, Militant Atheists, Gamergate, and Black Lives. They don't matter, and they know it, so they make a ton of noise so everybody looks at them because any attention is better than no attention for some people.

The problem with veg/vegan or anything really, is they respond emotionally with out facts.
A lot of different sources? Some of em probably pretty credible?
And allowing other people to read the information to make their own minds up?

Honestly this is a good response.

They are basically like mini feminists, spweing BS about thing they know little to nothing about, and then yelling and banging their fists everywhere when you tell them to piss off
User avatar #26 - BigDru (01/26/2015) [-]
If someone wants to be vegan, we should all let them. Seriously, I don't see the problem.

On the other hand, I don't want to be told that I'm a murderer for eating meat, and that going vegan is a much healthier lifestyle. Is it? Really? So why is it that without meat, vegans have to take handfuls of pills to supplement their diet? Also, why are humans built as predators? What do we have canines for?

Humans are omnivorous predators, and we're built to eat meat. If you try and ruin my day for it, we're fighting.

ruminant animals, like cows, are capable of eating things that humans cannot. Eg, grass.

in this way, they turn useless energy into useful energy for humans, and help to feed humanity as a result. not all land is arable, grasses are far hardier than most food crops.

There's a reason mountain communities are quite reliant on Yaks and similar beasts.
