Us Thai are having the most inane arguments with the Cambodians and Birma/Myanmar.

Guess what our strife the Cambodians is about? The ownership/ancestry of a mountaintop temple ruin which is quite literally thousands of years old. No, really, both countries have parked military units at the border for this exact reason. There have even been recorded casualties.

Japan is the most destructive country on Earth, I have no sympathy for them. Germany ****** up, but it had a good reason to **** up. Germany was desperate and needed an excuse for why bad **** was happening to them, and Jews made a likely culprit because of certain articles of Russian propaganda Russians want extra territory for settling Christians and higher-ups, so they publish **** in the early 19th century that indicates Jews as being evil. The rest of the world latches on like a ******* leech, and the Tsar has an excuse to send soldiers to remove Jewish settlements. . Plus, certain mainline Christian and eugenics-related ideals lead the Nazis to ideas of racial purity, but they did so for what they actually believed was a good and selfless purpose. In their eyes, removing the handicapped and gay from the breeding pool would lead to a future where the races were stronger and humanity as a whole could ascend.

The Japanese on the other hand were just a bunch of xenophobic sons of bitches. They believed that the Japanese were superior and that the Emperor was the greatest and most holy of all mankind and had a divine right to rule the world. If a few manchurians died or were experimented on for the sake of advancing the Japanese cause, who cares? American PoWs taken? Lets cut them open while they're still conscious, because anesthetic is just too damn expensive. I consider myself a fairly jaded human being and the kind of **** that happened in Japanese labs makes my skin crawl.

I'm not racist, as soon as you remove Japanese people from that culture I get along with them as well as anyone else. But Japanese cultural ideas are just so ******* dangerous. It's a warmongering, xenophobic crock of **** and when the revolution comes anything espousing those kinds of disgusting ideals needs to be purged.

I condemn the Reich as much as I condemn Japan, but the fact is that the Reich was a different nation and an entirely different national mentality. Germany had just been through a horrendous war and lost horribly, and needed some way to understand what had just happened and recover from a horrifically broken peace. Japan on the other hand had no significant event. The incidents and occupations in Asia were not isolated events that occurred because of unusual and extreme levels of stress on the nation, they were natural extensions of Japanese governmental philosophies which date back thousands of years and, to an extent, still exist now.

The point is that Germany can be ignored and unwatched and it's not going to go back to an oppressive hyper-conservative totalitarian government. If Japan was ignored and unwatched however, there is still the distinct possibility that in time they would go back to that method of thinking. In truth, the only things seriously preventing that are probably the constitutional amendments preventing them from foreign military operations (which are about to be removed), the industrialization of China, and the political locus of power being in a democratically elected government instead of in the Imperial Administration.

The point is that if you supplanted modern German nationals into a Japan of 1936 and watched to see what happened, there would be no expansion, there would be no oppression, nothing would happen. If you supplanted modern Japanese nationals into a Japan of 1936 and watched, it would not surprise me at all to see expansion ensue, the oppression happen exactly as we saw before, and the war in the Pacific inevitably occur.
