Thor isn't your ancestor you pig, your ancestors are. Thor is the god your ancestors worshipped.

As a Norwegian, I respectfully disagree. I understand it this way: Stan Lee read upon multiple mythologies, and made Super Heroes based off multiple of those. Out of all of them, the ONE Super Hero that struck out so much he even got his own movies AND a role in The Avengers was Thor. If anything it's a honor to Norse Mythology. A reimagination, a parody, and it's bloody awesome. Never try to find mythological consistency in recent works of fiction, for there is none. Especially not in Action Superheroes one.

It's pretty much like they modified a game. They took our Gods and built upon to them to better fit themself and then released a different version of it. Without harming the original.

To get hurt over that is like being hurt of anyone drawing Odin - which is quite honestly retarded.

You're just mad they left out the part where Loki gets ****** by a horse, aren't you?

And I think crap like "Percy Jackson" ruined Greek Mythology.
I mean, for ****** sake, they call Dionysus "Mr. D," and "Mr. D" is a very somber character instead of a party god.

Oh, come on, Scandinavia lighten up. We all know it's not "accurate and true" to mythology. It's a movie. It's supposed to be entertaining. It's BASED off of Norse mythology, not completely taken FROM Norse mythology.

In the movie Devil's Advocate, Satan is portrayed as a sexy and suave businessman who really seems like kind of a cool guy. And yet, Christianity as we know it has not been ruined.

tl;dr: get the broomstick out of your ass and stroke Loki's hair with the rest of us.

-Marvel never claimed that their portrayals were historically accurate
-Some of us just want to enjoy a good action movie

Do you people imagine that in 400 or 500 years some people will have this same issue about some possible future superhero jesus or buddah?

Well people don't realize Thor (movies) aren't based on the actual mythology but on the comic mythology which of course isn't based on the actual mythology either they had to alter it to make it work for a comic format

to people that don't understand: how would an american feel, if the way the wild west was remembered by the majority of the world, was as unicorn riding clowns with revolvers, fighting brown ghosts?
how would japaneese people feel, if how the samurai were remembered, were as monks that never used armor, and faught off the invading meremaids?

that's about how accurate marvel's version is.
they use the names of people and places, and they let thor control lightning, but that's really all they have in common with the original.

How could it ruin it if they're to different things?

The only thing Marvel Thor has to do with Nordic Myth Thor is the name. Other than that its just a story, completely reinvented. People are just more comfortable with what they can tie to this realm.

Thats exactly how I feel, I feel Thor and Loki has been degraded from their once glorious positions.

As a non-Scandinavian, I agree.

If Marvel's Thor were to fight Thor, it would be pretty similar to Stephen Hawkins vs Bruce Lee.
