bullying a smaller kid. I slammed on
my brakes got out of the car and
yelled as they ran away. I let the boy
use my cell phone to call his mather
and waited with him until she
showed up, crying uncontrollably
and thanking me over and over. We
said goodbye, I got in the car and
my girlfriend immediately berated
me, saying she was so embarrassed
that I did that and now we missed
our reservation. She demanded I
take her somewhere else. So I did. I
promptly drove her home, where I
then broke up with her for being the
most heartless person alive. The
leek on her face was priceless.

Yes, you absolutely should punish people for being dicks, but there are plenty of ways to do so without stooping to their level.

Breaking up with her seemed like a perfectly valid punishment. If they were living together, and he'd kicked the lady out, that would have been great too. Being genuinely dishonest and an all around asshole isn't going to teach her a lesson. It will ruin her day and make her think the guy is an asshole, and that she's in the right.

And then she, being self-righteous in the matter, will commit some vengeful dickery herself. And then he'll do the same and so forth. Obviously, form our perspective the guy's right. But the girl thinks SHE's right. Better to not reinforce that belief.
