am i only one who thinks we are gonna end in a matrix like future where every is plugged into one of these and instead of going out and stuff we are gonna have virtual reality social events. like virtual clubs and what not where the graphics get so realistic that none of us need to go out or even get up any more?

I'm not jokexplain but the pictures (sans the oculus rift) are from a movie called "the social network" In it, the guy you see in the post says "A million dollars isn't cool, you know what's cool? A billion dollars" (or something like that to Mark Zuckerberg.

This post however, chose to poke fun at the fact that Facebook bought the company "Oculus" who are the creators of the Oculus rift, which is a set of virtual reality visors. A lot of people hate Oculus for it because after gathering a lot of money through kickstarter and promising not to sell out, they did exactly that. if you have any more questions, I will leave it to the professional to answer them

>More wealthy company buys invention everyone likes concept for
>Can potentially take the technological capability of the invention way beyond original creator
>People will probably still be able to make their software compatible with it
>Everyone bitches

Why use Justin Timberlake, who played the guy who made Napster, and not Jessie Eisenberg who played ******* Zuckerberg. Lot of bergs.
User avatar #67 to #54 - xboxonerules (04/01/2014) [-]
It was Timberlake's line.

Facebook has been known to buy companies but leave them in their value and piggyback on their success. It won't be a Facebook machine and you can still be with you're waifu.

I still cant ******* believe you people are angry about this.

Seriously you're all making yourself out to look like morons. There are no negative effects to oculus being sold to Facebook.

Even if it IS taken over with Facebook (software, not company) **** , that means there will be a competitor which is nothing but good for us, the consumers.
User avatar #30 - ronyx (04/01/2014) [+] (2 replies)
Those guys must feel pretty good, I mean getting rich off people who supported your idea. Then selling out before the product is even done and punching those people in the balls.
User avatar #39 to #38 - ronyx (04/01/2014) [-]
Sure they're still working with the Oculus, what we don't know is if Facebook is putting their filthy fingers into the oculus. It's fair to believe that they might, then again we don't really know until it comes out.

As long I can play games the way i normally would without getting advertisment I don't really care about the whole "facebook bought occulus" thingy. There's still a chance that it doesn't go to hell, and if it does... lets just wait for Valve's version of the VR or whatever competitor you prefer.
