But when they caught Gendry in the series a little blood extracted by leeches was enough to kill Robb Stark, Balon Greyjoy nd Joffrey Baratheon.
So why Do they have to kill Shireen?
In the books Gendry was not kidnapped by Melisandre so I guess in the books it implies you have to kill/burn the sacrifice?
she insisted on having Edric Storm burned, but Stannis refused it. She agreed to take only 3 leeches of his blood to show Stannis the power of king's blood. But later, Edric was "kidnapped" by the Onion Knight and ran away from her, so she didn't really have a chance to do so.
He also refused to burn Shireen on various occasions and got really mad when Mellisandre tried to talk about it, but in the series they ****** up Stannis the Mannis so hard
Yeah dude WTF, the character would not have done that, even if he had the option. I hate that now non-book readers will think he is a cunt when he's not :/ He's probably gonna die next week anyways i'm guessing.
From what the showrunners said in the behind the episode segment, it sounds like it's actually going to happen in the upcoming book. Something along the lines of being shocked when George told them about it.
Yeah it probably happens, but it can't be Stannis that does it in the book. given the current situation.
Shireen, Selyse and Melisandre aren't WITH Stannis, so Stannis couldn't order it done.
So Mull is right. People will think he is a cunt when he isn't.
Ah I see. Well I don't know then since I've only finished A Storm of Swords I'll have to catch up to see how it might fit in. The only thing I can think of is that maybe Stannis tells Melisandre before he leaves to sacrifice Shireen if he ran into trouble or something like that. It just seems like a major character departure if he isn't involved with it in the books. It actually seems like the show might be making some of the contenders for the iron throne more unlikable so viewers are less conflicted when it comes time for someone like Dany to face off against them.
Nope, he says no such thing.
I am ******* furious about the whole thing for the very reason it makes no sense to do it, considering they made him more likable in the show too. Neither book Stannis nor show Stannis would do this, yet his wife, Selyse, would be all over sacrificing her daughter, because she is ******* for the lord of light AND hates her daughter.
My point is ***** retarded and one of the worst decisions they've made.
Oh yeh I agree. Neither show/book Stannis would've ever burnt Selyse.
Its ridiculously lazy writing. Same with the '20 good men', Ellaria's sudden character change, and Meryn's completely one sided pedophile character
yeh, Shireen. **** Selyse
But yeh, point stands. Lazy writing this season
One interesting point from yesterday's episode was how the Haripes left the slaves alive, but the shots showed them stabbing other Masters. Why, I wonder
Seems like some slaves want the old ways back too. I seem to remember in the book some did, because it gave them a house and food. Without slavery, they lost them. So likely the slaves with the masks were people like that. And they stabbed the masters not in the Harpies because they probably think they're a bunch of bastards that betrayed Meereen.
The harpies' attack didn't even happen in books. I mean, they were attacking the unsullied and slaves earlier, but after Dany's marriage, no harpy showed up.
Yeah I agree it does seem quite out of character for both show and book Stannis, but until the next book is released we'll have to wait and see just how fabricated the event is. Perhaps there is an instance in the future of the book where the situation is similar and the events play out as they did on screen. A bit of a stretch I'll admit, but I have no idea what George has planned.
That was also something I thought could happen, although it appears that the show is going to follow the same route for Jon as far as I can tell so they'd have to come up with another way to solve that problem
According to Gallop Polls: 1 in 12 American's is unaware that the mcburd is the Word. I for one, dream of an America where everybody knows that the mcburd is the Word.
