yfw you're a multi millionaire, and you buy every single combination of the powerball tickets, and make a $600,000,000 profit.

Because the tax would cut the earnings by about half and destroy the profit margin. Also, if somebody else wins, splitting the pot kills it as well.

I was actually thinking that, what would stop someone from doing that? Or is that just not alowed.

The sheer time needed to do that makes it impossible.

It would actually cost $584 Million. But the take home after hitting it and paying taxes it will probably be an $800-900 Million assuming nobody else hits it with you and causes a split. If you have to split with somebody else you just lost millions. There's a reason millionaires don't buy every combination, they're smarter than that hence why the are already millionaires.

5 white balls out of a collection of 69 numbered white ones.
= 11,283,513 combinations

Then there's the power ball
26 red * 11,283,513 = 292,201,338
That times $2 per ticket = $584,402,676

sorry my first number was from guessing

Not to mention you would have to physically fill out almost 300 million tickets
