FRANK HORRIGAN
Let me tell you about this mother ****** . The Enclave had to make special fitted power armor for him, because he was TOO BIG.
Heavy drugs are constantly keeping him alive in the suit, so he can never take it off.
He was by far the scariest thing you ever have to fight in a Fallout game.
That's right, he shows no mercy. No side skill like Speech or Science will get you behind him.
He can rip a DEATHCLAW in half with his bare hands.
This guy has 999 health. What does that mean? Assuming both your Strength and Endurance is maxed out at lvl1, and you get the Lifegiver Perk at lvl 12, You have to reach LEVEL 80 (Max is 99) to get that much health.

Also here's an audio clip of this alpha.

No, THIS is Frank Horrigan.

Frank horrigan was the second worst part of fallout 2.
User avatar #240 to #208 - lonelybaloney (11/18/2015) [-]
Worst part? Like in terms of fun or difficulty.
User avatar #258 to #240 - exotic (11/18/2015) [-]
in terms of writing and plot. They tried really hard to shove him in there as a final boss. Unbelievably stupid.

And he is not difficult. Cripple his head and hope he doesn't get a critical miss and drop his weapon so he melees you to death.
User avatar #288 to #258 - lonelybaloney (11/18/2015) [-]
His difficulty has a lot to do with whether you're minmaxing, if it's your first time playing, etc.
Also I think the merits of actually implementing an End Boss is more important than giving him a thick story.
User avatar #70 to #31 - trostell (11/18/2015) [-]
Don't forget he was also exposed to an experimental modification to FEV AFTER being exposed to regular FEV. So he's basically if the Hulk was on PCP and six different kinds of Psycho. In power armor. With what are essentially PLASMA CLAWS powered by his armor. And he has a wrist-mounted plasma cannon, powered by your standard MFCs that makes even Fallout 3's Tesla cannon look like a joke.

So he's fallout's version of Karstaag, Jesus Christ.
User avatar #71 to #54 - asasqw ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
You confront him with yourself, two wastelanders, a brother hood of steel paladin, a super mutant, and a hyper-intelligent deathclaw and he still can kick all of your asses if you don't minmax like a ************ . Immune to critical hits how the **** does that even work?
User avatar #179 to #71 - potatorgue (11/18/2015) [-]
But if you do minmax you can wreck his **** in a turn or two
User avatar #236 to #179 - kurtlanglie (11/18/2015) [-]
Which is the only way of beating him, really. The fight tells you right quick if you have a chance or not.

***** . You be wrong if you think he's bad.

You see this **** ?
That is a Mega Death Claw print. That tiny puddle of blood in the center? Yeah dat ant no small little drip of your baby bowl stew. That **** is a was once alive brotha crushed by the Godzilla of Death Claws.

You think Ol' Franky is a big deal. Bitch. We have the Mother of all Death Claws running around. **** that **** .

Jesus tap dancing Christ a normal sized Deathclaw gives me a heart attack. Being anywhere near that monstrosity would make me piss out my ass and **** out my dick in fear.

You know I was hoping you would fight some super ultra Deathclaw with a laser breath when you went to the Glow in Fallout 4, but no, you fight ******* radscorpions and maybe one regular Deathclaw
User avatar #159 to #77 - fishandkids ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
When I went there, I had at all times (until I got to atom's worshippers) at least 1 deathclaw on me (also had one waiting for me right outside of Virgil's cave) and at most I had 3 at a time on me.
User avatar #167 to #159 - notsoulmyr ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
What difficulty were you playing on?
User avatar #171 to #167 - fishandkids ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
Can't remember if it was normal or hard, think it was normal.
User avatar #245 to #171 - notsoulmyr ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
I was playing on normal and never really had a problem with Deathclaws.
Although I was wearing a full suit of X-01 Mk.V and carrying a Gattling Laser
User avatar #248 to #245 - fishandkids ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
Yeah, I didn't use power armour, just a hazmat suit and a 10mm gun. 3 at once was not a good fight. Where did you get a mk V?
#254 to #248 - notsoulmyr ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
I found a full suit near Goodneighbour, in an unmarked building. The entrance has two ceiling turrents and there's a legendary sentry bot guarding it, so be wary of that.

Since power armor is randomly spawned, you can also get it by pure luck. I had two full suits of X-01 at one point.
User avatar #256 to #254 - fishandkids ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
I have one x 01, but that' not a ******* mk V. What level are you?
User avatar #260 to #256 - notsoulmyr ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
Well I beat the game with that character, so 51-52?
But I think I was 30ish when I went to the Glow
User avatar #262 to #260 - fishandkids ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
I'll head there laer than and check if it's there. I'm level 42 now so it should be there.
User avatar #264 to #262 - notsoulmyr ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
Well I got it when I was level 25, so again, really depends on RNG.
I really hate the amount of RNG in this game. I killed a legendary alpha deathclaw and all I got was a ****** pipe rifle. Meanwhile I killed a unique bandit at level 10 and got a fully upgraded 10mm pistol that was OP as hell for half my playthrough
User avatar #265 to #264 - fishandkids ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
I'm still using the same 10mm I got a long time ago from some random raider.

They're not that tough, just use your Fat Man.
You ARE carrying a Fat Man with you, aren't you?
#302 to #94 - anon (11/18/2015) [-]
Pfff, who carries a fatman, there is nothing that 50 well stacked frag mines can't kill.
User avatar #126 to #94 - goddamnwizard (11/18/2015) [-]
I carry one but I managed the legendary alpha with my six crank laser musket. Which I named Boss Awesome.

I have a companion carry one for me, in case I have to kill a Mirelurk queen and don't want to waste all my normal ammo

I'm a bit of a ballistics chauvinist, I'd be using Kellogg's revolver almost exclusively if .44 ammo wasn't like rocking horse ****

I think you'd be able to TASTE such a massive thing moving around, let alone hear, smell or feel it.

In a world with people sneaking around in power armor with radio blasting with multi-hundred of pounds of gear clanking about. You'ed think that it might not be doable. But it is
User avatar #53 to #51 - ILIEKPEPSEE ONLINE (11/18/2015) [-]
thing is, most of the places(that I've seen, not much tbh) of, say, the commonwealth are too packed to allow such a massive thing to be able to move around. I wonder if there's a way to calculate his height from that foot. Assuming the poor bastard's blood stain is about 5 feet across, that foot is at least 30ft from middle toe to heel.
User avatar #66 to #53 - eggsontoast (11/18/2015) [-]
Well I can tell you that the puddle of blood is roughly the size of the player. If i recall correctly. So maybe 6'1". But I think we should go with average male height to be safe... So 5'9"? I think.

And DeathClaws dont give a damn about people sooo it doesn't matter if it could it. It would just wreck the place because its in the way. Unless we're talking about it being a game then yeah. No dev would add that. It would need its own DLC for that to work.
