Your sentiment isn't wrong in a general sense, but there's no implication of welfare in this comic.

I understand the sentiment here that if you are happy in life there is no need to be financially successful, and people rate happiness success in many ways, but Bill Watterson is worth more than $100 million dollars.

guyssssssssss, what the hell is with you negative asses? this guy gave up his salary job to pursue art at home where he can do what he loves with the people he cares about most around him. It even says (or implies i think) that he has an undemanding job to pursue other activities. If I had a skill that I could outside of work I would hope one day i can do the same as this guy in the comic so i can be there for my future family

I enjoy zenpencis but why are the quotes always telling you to quit your job and unrealistically live doing what you love?

What makes me really sad is that almost every form of Calvin and Hobbes merchandise is unauthorized by Bill Waterson.

I remember hearing about a really sad quote he made when he saw a Calvin and Hobbes sticker on a car. "What have they done to you, my boy? What have they done?" or something like that, I don't remember

>Has a decent paying job that allows him to use his talents as an artist, few people get this chance.
>Has co-workers who are friendly and booze IN THE OFFICE, sounds like an ideal work enviroment.
>Quits because... why?

0/10, would not make similar decision.

So basically anyone who works in the office or has even the most mild ambitions is a hallow destitute who is not happy what-so-ever? Further, the only way to achieve happiness is to give up a stable job in an uncertain world because "you gotta be yourself!!!!!!!"

I ******* this pretentious artist and his ******* stupid comics...(zen pencils that is)

Alright, you reposted some content from another website. Everyone does that. That's fine. That doesn't mean you're not creative.

But you even used the same title..
That's a full on aspirer right there

What if a child dreamed of becoming something other than what society had intended? What if a child aspired to something greater?

I'm all for doing something you enjoy and following your passion, but let's face it. Not everyone's passion will create money.

Through my little personal experience, I am a lot happier going to my job and not worrying that much about bills. I'd love to follow my passion of browsing the internet and playing video games all day, but that won't keep the lights on. You sleep a lot better at night knowing your bills are payed, while all you have to do is work your 40-50 hours a week. Just make the most of your job and you'll probably end up loving it in some way

Thumb though for Bill Waterson. Calvin and Hobbes is the **** .
