I know the problem. Some of my friends actually prefer videogames over going out even on friday/saturday. Not like they play enough over the week.

I think a lot of the time it's a lack of things to do. Like there is nothing recreational around me. There's a field where all the dogs go to **** on their walks.... that's about it.

That´s a pity. But you could still meet up with friends, go tot he next city, whatever, couldn´t you?
And even if not, then you have a reason at least. My friends on the other side have the possibilities,...I´d never say a thing if they´d play all week, but partied on the week-end, but skipping a concerts/party to do the same thing as all week...I don´t get it.

There isn't much to do in other towns over either. If we want something to do we have to drive pretty far to do it, which can't happen too often because of gas. It's basically limited to eating together at a fast food joint, seeing a movie, or video games. None of us drink or smoke. If your friends don't either that may be why a party doesn't interest them.

Actually, my friends drink and smoke like the typical student.D
Ah, okay, we have similar problems, but we used to party in the woods or just somewhere in the free nature...

How old are you? Do you not drink/smoke because you don´t like it or ouf of other reasons?

My dad heavily drinks, has all my life. I'm 20, but I've never wanted to get into his level. My brother started it, then had to seriously control himself because he began following the same route. My dad's side seems very addictive, so I don't drink out of not wanting to fall into that. As for smoking, same reasons. Both parents did it, brother does it. All of them cough and hack. I'm paraplegic and do a lot of cardio by dragging myself around with my arms. Smoking would hinder me quite a bit.

I agree with the woods thing. We've gone camping down on a river for a weekend and it be a lot of fun. Swimming, cooking hotdogs over the fire, some of us drinking. It was a load of fun, and this month I have plans to be out in the woods for two weekends scaring the **** out of people at a park that does a volunteer driven haunted trail thing. There are some options, they just aren't always available.

Well, okay, those are reasons. I just know some people who don´t drink out of religious reasons and all that ********, so I thought, I´d ask. I luckily know that I can stop whenever I want That´s not just talk, I actually did stop both for a 3/4 year, just to show myself that I can

That´s a pity. Around here, we don´t have that many possibilities either, but we make the best off it, at least when the others are "free".
Just a tip: Ask some friends to travel around with you. We´ve been to Denmark for a week, a month ago and it was the blast of our lives. And if you plan good, it´s quite cheap, too, we paid around 300-350 Euro each, for food, drinks, gas, the car, the house...everything. And a package of lego for everybody, I mean, we were in Denmark, this was necessary

Smoking is just poor for health and I don't want to do that to myself, drinking can have some benefits in the right quantities, but like I said, my family has that addictive personality, so chances are I do too. My dad gets wasted about every other day or he gets the shakes. He'd need rehab to quit as his stage, and his brother ruined his life with blow, and other things.

I don't know what that amount converts to in dollars, I'm in the states. I don't really have a lot of friends, I'm more of a make a select few that are really close so it'd probably cost me a tad more, but I do jump on the chance to go out if it's offered. I like doing things like camping, swimming, frog hunting, but if there's nothing to do, vidya games it is.

Well, as I said, I have no problem with others not doing it. I like smoking sometimes (not cigarettes, but Shisha sometimes and weed sometimes (very rare, tho))...and I like drinking. Also, I couldn´t give less ***** about my health to be honest.

It´s around 470 Dollar...and we weren´t many, only 5 people this time (probably we´ll go with more this year, tho).
And what camping is concerend, isn´t America great for this stuff, seeing that you have far, far wider areas without cities and villages?

Camping is a good option here, not really now because winter is setting in, but it costs money. Have to buy food for the weekend or however long you plan to stay, food is higher cost here than many other places, then there is firewood (you'd think you could chop it down in the woods, but believe me you need to buy it yourself or you'll be chopping wood the entire time and it's no fun) Then you have to find a spot. There's really nothing that's not owned by somebody, and people get pissy when you camp there, even if you clean up after yourself. Last time some dude tried to make us move because we wouldn't respect his authority. He was a friend of the owner of the property telling us to stop jumping off of this small bridge there because he deemed it unsafe for his 7 year old daughters, NOW it's actually illegal to camp on rivers. You'll get fined if you're caught even walking down there, and they wonder why kids turn into vandals.

Holy ****, well, in Germany, the rules are damn strict, too, but nobody follows them because nobody sees you. We mostly search for some farout spots and no-one finds us so we don´t get into trouble. And what food is concerned, we usually buy stuff in a bunch when it´s cheap because we know that we´ll need it for camping or festivals somedays.D

Food is a little bit of a minor concern, everyone can pitch in. Firewood is a little expensive ain't that about right? wood you burn is expensive but the police know all the good spots and patrol them often during summers. Tickets are just money for them. We have a pretty **** police force in Illinois. You need to know someone who owns good camping property, or pay to camp on some designated grounds. It's a shame really that some kids who want to go out and enjoy the outdoors are met with so much resistance to do so.

Firewood is no problem for us, luckily. My parents have tons of woodland, so I´m used to chopping wood every weekend when I´m not on University We either use our wood, or we cut it in the woods, it doesn´t take too long to take down 2 or 3 trees (if you take the right ones, dying ones, for example, I don´t like destroying healthy nature)

Illinois, huh? I can´t imagine a thing about Illinois.D What kind landscape do you have over there? I know it sounds ignorant but all I can think of when I hear America and camping are the landscapes you see in pictures of creepypasta...either giant woods or dessert-ish landscapes... oh god, that sounds hella ignorant.

The landscape here is basically fields and heavy woods, which is why it's good for camping if you can find a spot that won't charge you for just being there or arrest you for being there. Leave it to people to find something nice and slap a meter on it, eh? I used to have a wood splitter and had an abundance, but that house burnt down and we don't have the equipment to cut wood anymore. Then if you do and people find you cutting down trees they are very likely to have you arrested for vandalism rather than just tell you you have to leave. This state has potential all around you, but people just ruin it. I want to move.

Still need permission to fell trees (even dead ones) and I have the whole paraplegic thing going on. Swinging an axe big enough to chop a tree down isn't practical as I can't put my hips into it for power.
