Okay. I need someone to help me here. Is Bloodborne a Souls game? DeS and both DkS were called that because they had "Souls" in their name. Bloodborne doesn't and it doesn't even have souls as a mechanic. Souls, blood echoes, same thing. Different name. Is it just the fact that it's from From Software and it's similar enough to Demon's and Dark in terms of gameplay that they can be put in the same series?
It's pretty much become it's own genre. It plays so similarly to the other soul games that you may as well call it a souls game despite it not having 'soul' in the title.
Also yea it's made pretty much by the same team even if they did divide to make DS2 and Bloodborne.
Bloodborne is its own intellectual property separate from the Souls series, but it plays very much like a Souls game. Personally I think Bloodborne's not actually a Souls game, but it's pretty close
from a sequence/ universe standpoint, it's not a Souls game. From a mechanics standpoint, it's pretty similar but different enough that I think anyone has good reason to both call it a Souls game and to say it's not a Souls game.
I know that Moonlight GS is in all From Soft games, but like you said it's not exclusive to Souls, so I don't think its presence in Bloodborne is significant.
It's by the same company and in the same style, so most people call it a Souls game, or use the fanmade moniker "SoulsBorne" to refer all 4 games.
They probably didn't stick with a "Souls" in the title because of the very different aesthetic, tonal differences in the story, as well as many other minor but noticeable differences like faster combat.
Its called a soul game for the same reason the Xeno series is a series despite all the games having nothing to do with each other. They contain similar elements, whether thematic or gameplay wise, and they're all from the same developer.
Because of Sony's relationship with Bloodborne and Dark Souls being published by Bamco it's beneficial for From to distance it from the rest of the series to avoid **** with sony.
It's very much a sequel to souls in a new settings with some core new mechanics. But the game is still at it's heart a Souls game 100%
It is basically what they call a spiritual successor. They take the base template from a previous title and make something new using the mechanics, while keeping it a seperate series of its own. Though not the case here, most spiritual successors tend to be due to who owns the rights to a series.
It's a Souls game because it plays 95% the same as every other Souls game. We just call them Souls games because the first three had Souls in the title.
It took me so many tries to beat him. I though he was so hard, then he pulled out his sword and used that wave attack to kill me 10/10 would fight again
He gave me a lot of trouble and just when i finally memorize his first phase here comes the second one. Killed him but it took me so damn long to do it.
i actually had the least trouble with him, almost had him first attempt, beat him on the third
but then Maria and Orphan wrecked my **** many many times
I'm really REALLY not bragging here, but I don't understand why people think he's so difficult. I summoned Mr. Bucket Head Confederate Guy and beat this boss on the first try. Just use ranged attacks, like the Repeater Pistol, Cannon, Bowblade, Gatling Gun, etc, while Confederate Man tanks the hits.
Now, I don't know about NG+, as I've only gotten through the DLC with my 2-day-old BT build, so I imagine THAT'S what people are talking about.
