As someone who has never played any of these, this has confused me a lot. Are they supposed to be clones of each other? And if so, which one are you (the player)?

Once upon a time there was a super great soldier named Naked Snake, he was the epitome of perfection, so as he got older his superiors wanted to still use him even as he got older, but he didn't allow anyone to clone him, so when he went into a coma for 9 years, it was their opportunity. Solid and Liquid snake(left and 2nd from the left in top pic) were his dominant and recessive gened clones. Then their managed to make a perfect clone(2nd from the right) named Solidus. The guy on the far right in the top pic is Raiden, he's a pansy boy.
Spoilers from the newest MGS The dude from the bottom is supposed to be Naked Snake, but when the chopter crashed, their did plastic surgery on a medic to make him exactly like Naked Snake, and that's the dude at the bottom. The real Naked Snake isn't in this pic.
