I have been smoking for seven years, I am 21, and I get told I look 16, and get carded every single time. I only smoke three cigarettes a day though, one after every meal, and I exercise daily, but you get the point. (the point is that's an ignorant assumption.)

It's not an assumption, it's an observation. If what you say is true, then you stand out from the trend. And who knows, it might turn on you in a few years. Not that I'm trying to judge. You can make whatever life choices you want, but don't get all butthurt when someone on the internet points out what could go wrong from smoking.

It's not only seen through anecdotal evidence all the time, but also scientifically proven to cause premature aging because smokers' lung cells make too little WRN protein, though the gene to synthesize it is perfectly normal. I would not call it an assumption, nor is it ignorant. It's actually quite informed.

i dont get why people preach so much about cigarettes. It's their choice what they do, regardless of how stupid it is. My dad's 50 and he's been smoking all his life and he looks 40 if anything. There are more serious health issues out there like tard moms who take their swine offspring to mcdonalds every other day. We're always bashing smokers on just that soul fact. They can't smoke in bars anymore it's ridiculous. People think they can yell at someone who's smoking in public for "harming their child" meanwhile that cow is poisoning her kid every damn day

although it's their choice to raise their childeren that way, by smoking, they don't only hurt their childeren, but also the people that are around when they put up a sigaret.
Not to even mention the reason why people start with smoking: to be a part of a group. i mean, i'm not the most convident of people, but i seriously won't start smoking, just so that people will like me. it's just the lowest of the low.

My dad is a 60 year old smoker and my parents have been sleeping in separate bedrooms for the last ten years while my non-smoking granddad still has dates over at his house. I've decided I'll never marry a smoker and if you too want to have those extra 20+ years of heathy sex at the end of your life, I wouldn't advice you to smoke either

I completely understand smoking in bars, but it should be the owner's choice. There are some bars that cater to cigar smokers for example, that have taken a hit to business. Banning smoking in retail stores, family restaurants, etc. does make sense. I smoke, but I don't try to blow it in anyone's face or anything. If someone asks me politely to stop or move away from them (it's always assholes who say to stop and not just move away it seems.) I will gladly respect their wishes.

I would agree with you, but the potential to slip and fall would be a pretty bad safety hazard in that world, not to mention that any nice clothes of yours would be completely ruined within minutes of stepping outside.
I would support the invention of wanking booths, though. Little boxes with chairs, kleenex, and wifi where you could bust a quick nut before or after work. It would be an amazing stress reliever for the modern man on the go.

Not trying to start a whole "thing" here, but if in a public place such as a park, sidewalk, or while driving, is it not acceptable for someone to smoke? Does smoking make someone less human to the point that they may not enjoy free, open, public air? A smoker can only do so much against the wind. I'm bringing up this point as probably the most polite smoker out there, I try to only smoke in designated areas, and while I'm in those areas, I attempt, as best as possible to predict any cross-winds, and keep my smoke out of the faces of others. I also bring this up as it is a huge debate on my campus. Not only are they banning smoking, which 45% of teaching staff, and nearly 90% of maintenance staff smoke, but they are banning any form of tobacco, chewing tobacco, cigarettes, pipes, and yes, even E-cigarettes. While we are a "dry" campus, we sell alcohol in our arena. Opinions?

Heh, you wouldn't happen to be a Bison, would you?
And, as I said down below, I only dislike smoking when people do it in an enclosed area as there's less air flow. If you smoke outside, the wind goblins usually collect the smoke and chuck it at the sky before it can hit the breathing orifices of others, so that's cool.

Comparing masturbation to smoking...as if all the smokers on the streets are just as bad as a street full of people fapping. **** logic. I smoke and i could care less what anybody thinks. As long as they sell tobacco legally, I'll continue to smoke where i please, within reason.

I think smoking is cool and fun, but I'm to much of a pussy to do it everyday, maybe a few times a week.

Nicotine does nothing for me, I used to chew a lot of tobacco. About 1 pack a day worth of it, and was able to quit no problem, and apparently snuff is more addictive than cigarettes.

It's not that Nicotine does nothing for you, it's that you don't notice it. You're not immune to it, it's just slower for you than others.

My buddy's always talk about the 'nicotine buzz' they got when they started chewing and when they have a smoke. I never really get the buzz, I like to do it, but if I try for a buzz I usually have to do a lot and I feel light headed for a couple seconds then just get sick. I guess being light headed is part of the buzz, but getting sick is a good way to try and quit. Every time I would get a nictoine overdose on a certain flavour of chew I would have a very hard time chewing it again later. Maybe I'm just easily conditioned, who knows.

Although my opinion isn't the same as yours, I do it because I enjoy it, yes sometimes I do it just to be in atmosphere with the ones around me, so they don't feel alone when smoking their own cigarettes. I used to smoke everyday and buy one or two packs every two days, now I quit not because of my health or because I want to, but because I can't afford them anymore and I don't really feel like taking my mom's cigarettes.

I smoke cigarettes, but I like to think I'm pretty courteous about it. If I'm out with friends, I'll ask if they mind if I smoke, and I never blow it in their faces. When I'm on a bench and someone's walking by, I always hold it in and exhale after they pass.

That is nice of you to be polite.

As a non smoker, I HATE when anyone (especially close friends) ask if they can smoke in my car. It's very hard to say no, then I end up sitting there gritting my teeth the whole time. "But the window's open!" Oh piss off, it doesn't all magically go out the window.

That aside I try to accommodate or plan for my friend's visits by making some areas of the house, or outside of it in front of the garden with a great view, designated smoking spots. Either way, I hate when they ask that question. =/

people talk about men and women who smoke like chimnets but lived till 100 as if thats proof that cigs dont cause lung cancer or somethng. thats like after getting punched in the face you and you dont get a bruise saying that getting punched cant cause bruises
