Despite their name and appearance, slow worms are neither worms or snakes, but are in fact lizards - they're given away by their ability to shed their tails and blink with their eyelids. They can be found in heathland, tussocky grassland, woodland edges and rides: anywhere they can find invertebrates to eat and a sunny patch in which to sunbathe. They are often found in mature gardens and allotments, where they like hunting around the compost heap. However, if you have a cat, you are unlikely to find them in your garden as cats predate them. Like other reptiles, slow-worms hibernate, usually from October to March.

So what, they lost their legs unrelated to snakes?
#20 to #19 - skyeskye [OP](10/31/2015) [-]
Some snakes do have spurs which are tiny little remains of what used to be legs., like how humans still have the remains of a tail bone They use them to lock together for mating. It's widely believed that snakes have evolved from lizards, so lizards such as the legless lizards and many skinks are most likely a look at lizards that are currently losing or have lost their limbs and are currently on the way to evolving into snakes.

<pic related, spurs on a python.

If you want to call them by a non-retarded name, they're also commonly referred to as "legless lizards". Makes a bit more sense.

umm no. Legless lizard applies to a wide range of species, pretty much all lizards without legs. Slow worms are a specific, European species of legless lizard and are known as slow worms by everyone familiar with them.
