Yeah, I once had sleep paralysis. A whole lot of nothing to do while you look at spoopy shadows move across your windows.

2/10 would not recommend.

I get sleep paralysis quite often now
it normally happens a couple of days after a session for one night but it will happen multiple times in one night
the first time it happens in a night it will scare the **** out of me because i'm not expecting it but then I can prepare myself because it will normally happen again 3-4 times after that
I find that if you cover your eyes it stops you seeing weird **** but you still get the sensation from it and you can just ride it out
when it happens to me it's like my eyes are open and i can see my room, which is why i cover my eyes
now I quite enjoy it because it's more like lucid dreaming to me now because I know im conscious but im still 'asleep' so I can just imagine like im flying or some ****

Ehhh....that doesn't save you from hearing sounds and "feeling" things move around you.
Heard something walk around with its claws hitting the floors just to jump next to me from the back of the bed.
So yea.... ****** ****** .Also always gets the heart bumping so fast you cant sleep after it.

Had it three times in my life, all within a one week period (which was roughly 3-4 years ago) and haven't had it since. The first time freaked me the **** out and I panicked like crazy because despite what was said in the OP, I could NOT breath. The second and third time it happened I was prepared for it and experienced it for a short while before I fell into an extremely lucid dreamstate. Ever since that last occurrence I have not been able to experience sleep paralysis nor have I had that level of lucid dreaming. Not sure how I feel about that.

Sort of related, one of my friends attempted lucid dreaming and managed to pull it off. The first thing he did was fly around his room, which he said was awesome. What was less awesome was when he flew downstairs and found Barney the Dinosaur eating his entire family.

I see spoopy shadows and even faces sometimes. Don't get sleep paralysis just when ever I stare at the ceiling, in the dark. I start to see smoke then shadows and faces. ***** weird been happening since I was a kid.

I've only experienced sleep paralysis once, and it was the hallucinogenic kind. It wasn't some scary/creepy/ooga booga type **** like monsters, it was more like a psychological nightmare.
I opened my eyes in the middle of the night and couldn't move, so I thought "So, this is sleep paralysis?" But as soon as I closed my eyes, I started hallucinating that I was in a bathtub that was slowly filling up with water. I knew it wasn't real, but I legitimately started to panic. The water started creeping up past my chin, and I felt myself start to sweat irl. And as soon as the water went past my nose, I fell back to sleep. It may not sound that bad, but yeah....never again, pls.

Could be telltale signs of underlying issues with insecurity to amount to anything in everyday life, perhaps subconsciously interred by your parents/parental figure. Also could be stress from work/school to succeed and do things correctly. I suggest taking a mental health day and just listening to music you enjoy or playing a soothing game or something.

ive never had sleep paralysis before but i remember one spooky incident i had a few months ago. im sleeping in my room, middle of the night, and suddenly i feel my entire body being lifted up. i can't feel my sheets or the bed, i just feel myself floating in the middle of the air. i dont want to open my eyes because im afraid id see a ghost or that the sudden waking up would cause the ghost to drop me onto my bed, so i just pretend im sleeping and i keep my eyes shut. then i feel my body floating towards the foot of the bed and being placed gently on the floor. im so scared but im also tired so i end up falling asleep again. wake up about an hour later, i remember the incident, so i open my eyes and see that i really am on the floor on the foot of bed. too scared to move cause im afraid ghost will see me move/wakeup. close my eyes discretely then try falling back to sleep. wake up in the morning and im in my bed again. definitely one of the worst nights of my life.

It doesn't help when your culture says sleep paralysis happens because malevolent ghosts are holding you down. Some of the scariest stories even tell of staring inches away into the face of someone who should clearly be dead.

It took me ages to even dare open my eyes.

I got either sleep terrors or the sleep paralysis (and hallucinations) without the paralysis. Pretty ******* terrifying; it was as though there was this thin, transparent film/veil over what I saw, and all sorts of ****** up **** was going in. Mostly carnage and scenes distinctively resembling war. In hindsight the worst part is it was not some scene I'd seen in a movie. For 11 year old me that ****** me up for days.

oh my *****
I had regular sleep paralysis since I was 6, my psychologist says its some kind of traumatic even in an infant's life.
Seeing the grim reaper, or a skeleton shaped monster was kind of common, but do you know what's more terrifying than all that

auditive hallucinations. That one time I heard screams for the whole paralysis duration, not like agony screams but more like one, long, continuous howl. And you're forced to listen to it for what feels like forever, you scream and cry in your own heard but it's the best prison ever made, your only escape is to wait.

I have narcolepsy, and get sleep paralysis quite often, since I'm so used to it, it can be quite cool sometimes, but yeah, the worst part is hearing **** , the worst time for me, was when I woke up and I heard snoring, and was like, meeh, just my dog, then I realized my dog wasn't at home and that I was alone, so ofc I started to freak, then I noticed I couldn't move, so I was like, aahh, not this **** again, and tried to go back to sleep, then the snoring progressivley turned more and more into sneering/growling, then there was this loud demonic roar, and I saw a beast leap from the floor onto my legs, and I could feel the pain from it's claws tearing into my legs, was ******* horrifying.

now these are far less common, thank god.
strangely these paralysises kind of slowed down after the first time I took lsd, to finally completely disappear two years or so after that. lsd made me realise that even if you don't have control you can still be ok, and nothing will last forever.. it really helped me.

i always found hallucinating really interesting because I couldn't imagine seeing things that weren't really there and I always wanted to experience it.
Until I had my first sleep paralysis and I hallucinated a silhouette of my mom peeking into my room as I heard almost hundreds of whispers coming from all around my room. I didn't know about sleep paralysis back then and I thought it was a dream but it was too ******* real.

Sleeping at parents' home.
Wake up in the middle of the night, except I'm not really awake, but also not sleeping.
Oh **** , is this sleep paralysis?
Try to shake myself up, but I can't move.
I feel something touch my body, and I'd have **** myself if I could have moved.
It's like cold, bony, hard fingers, dragging themselves across my torso, slowly sliding up to my throat.
Panic starts to set in.
When they reach it, they clench, and suddenly I have problems breathing.
**** **** **** **** I'm being strangled in my sleep.
Try to get it off of me, but I absolutely can't move.
In desperation, I try to shout out to my parents, but it's like I'm only awake in consciousness, but in my mind, inside I'm still asleep.
I just try to squeeze sounds out of my mouth, while I'm being strangled, and finally some kind of moan, scream, whining sound comes out.
I hear movement, so it seems my parents heard it.
Dad rushed in and asks: "Anon, are you ok? Are you sleeping?"
I try to make a distress noise like before, but it's harder, cause the grip on my throat feels tighter.
Come on dad, just shake me or something, so I can wake up actually and inside.
"Anon! What's wrong? How can I help!?"
Collect my every strength and try to mutter some words
"...w...wake...."
"WHAT ANON?! WHAT?!"
"Wake me up!
Wake me up inside!
Can't wake up!
Wake me up inside!
SAAAVE MEE!
Save me from this nothing I become."

This happened around January of this year:
>sitting in my computer chair
>lights off, headphones on, jamming to some 2 am tunes before attempt at sleep
>start drifting off, know I should go to bed
>music stops
>silence for ~10 minutes, just staring at the wall half awake but still slightly unconscious feeling
>try to get up and go to my bed
>can't ******* move
>all of the sudden hear loud, raspy voice, doesn't yell, but loudly says I will show you the meaning of fear
>almost painfully loud buzzing bass sound begins to vibrate in my ear drums
>can't ******* move, panic
>somehow remember that you're supposed to focus all your energy on moving one body part in order to break paralysis
>start trying to flex/move right arm, all of my strenght going toward it
>feel it start to twitch
>bass buzzing slightly louder the longer it goes on
>finally, move my arm over my chest and let it fall, hitting my chest and waking me
>I'm laying in my bed now, wide awake

I laid there for around 1.5-2 hours before I was able to fall asleep.

When I was a lot younger, I used to pretend to be asleep whenever my parents walked in to my room so they wouldn't try to talk to me anymore and I could actually get to sleep, so it basically became reflex to go completely limp and still whenever I thought my parents were in the room, dood. One morning when I was like 8 or something, I was half awake early in the morning and thought I heard my mom come in to my room, and lay down next to me in my bed, so I stayed perfectly still because I didn't want to get up yet. I didn't realize it because I was pretending to be asleep, but I actually couldn't move, my "mother" was a hallucination from what I assume was sleep paralysis, and "she" started singing some weird lullaby into my ear www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tj78ozxcpIM like this, but with actual words I can't really remember . After several minutes of this, I decided to try and surprise her I was still "dreaming" and thought it was still my mom by suddenly jolting awake and yelling, and apparently it was just enough to jolt me out of paralysis and dispel the hallucination, after which I realized that it was actually super spoops.

>hour or so after I go to sleep (I checked after the ordeal)
>wake up to a loud pounding noise
>when my parents have called me several times, with no response, they knock on the wall next to my bed to rouse me.
>so I assume its my dad and, at this hour, it must be important.
>try to get up but cant
>pretty sure its sleep paralysis, but still hear pounding.
>try calling out "I'll be there."
>no sound
>pounding gets louder
>trying to move, shout, anything
>Dad must be dying he's beating that wall down
>finally get up and bolt into the living room, naked but for my boxers
>Dad is sitting at his computer normal as ever
>he looks over to see his son drenched in sweat, hyperventilating and looking for all the world like a meth head
>simultaneous "Are you okay?"

Let me tell you folks about Sleep Paralysis. Sleep Paralysis for those of you who have had to good fortune to not suffer from this...is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Luckily I have had to good fortune to not see hallucinations of ghost, demons, aliens, and or other things 2spooky4me. However, not seeing these things might be even more terrifying when you're lying awake in the witching hours unable to move, or better yet scream for help.

I thought the first time was the most frightening experience when it came to Sleep Paralysis..oh how I was wrong. It was the third time that was the most jarring; suppose third time is the charm even when it comes to horrible situations.

The first time I simply wasn't able to move my entire body. It felt as if something heavy was sitting on me. I remember the full moon was out that night, and the light shined partially through the shades of my window. Even with the dim moonlight I couldn't make out what was sitting on my chest. All I could feel was terror, and anxiety from the unknown invisible entity that sat upon my chest. What seemed like an eternity, that was actually ten minutes had passed, and I was able to finally move my body. I turned on the lights in my room, and nothing was there. I stayed up most of the night, until dawn unable to sleep after that.

The third experience I had started when I came home from work. It was 6:30 P.M. when I arrived home that day. When I opened the door to my room I heard what sounded like two disembodied voices talking to each other. The words of the voices I could not understand. It sounded like two people fake whispering in each other's ears. The voices vanished five seconds later; figuring the voices were from the stress of today's work I simply shrugged it off.

After a nice meal, and hot shower I climbed into bed. It had been nearly a month since my last run in with the dreaded Sleep Paralysis. The second time wasn't as bad as the first luckily. However, sleep paralysis struck me again that night. I looked up at the ceiling unable to move thinking "Not this **** again." I waited for it to pass. The two disembodied voices I heard earlier that night sounded once more. Still I couldn't understand what they were saying as they loudly whispered to each other.

I then felt something strange...even more strange than I had become accustomed to with Sleep Paralysis. A cold numbness slowly running through, and from my toes to my head. It felt like something supernatural, or alien in origin was trying to take over my paralyzed body. I still couldn't see what it was that was holding me down, or whispering. I tried to shout, and scream for help..but to no avail I couldn't muster the strength, to break the paralysis. All I could do is pray in my mind, and fight whatever this thing was that had it's hold on me be it a ghost, demon, or simply insanity that had it's grip on me. Like the first, and second time the paralysis left my body...and I didn't sleep that night.

First time i got sleep paralysis was the night i had watched a show on national geographic about sleep paralysis, in the show there was this guy that said he woke up with a weight on his chest, he looked at his feet and an old woman was looking at him. I was a kid so i was pretty spooped, i went to sleep and when i woke up, surprise surprise, couldnt move an inch and felt a weight on my chest (i was face up). I took some time to understand wtf was going on and then it dawned on me, "Holy **** , spoopy old woman". I looked at my feet slowly and then i saw nothing, great relief came, but then i got scared cause the paralysis wasnt stopping, i tried calling my mom but only managed a really muffled aaahh. Eventualy it passed i got up went to the kitchen, got some grub and watched nickelodeon.
I got some other spoopy stories but i cant remember that well, sleep paralysis happened so much to me, nevertheless if you want them i can tell

Well, more recently, about last year, i woke up with sleep paralysis and a spook on my spine i glanced over to the other corner of the bedroom and i saw one of those exorcist like girls, and i knew she wanted to kill me. I desperately tried to move but couldnt, i remember falling back to sleep just thinking "nooooo... *asleep*" (i couldnt talk)

Another time it was spoopy in a different way, i woke up, went to my alarm turned it off, went to the bathroom started running the water for the shower and then "wait, something feels off.... This is a dream" . I woke up, went to the alarm looked at the corridor, " **** , another dream". I woke up... repeat about 10 times. "I gotta break out of this, my life cant be this" desperately tried to roll over so i fell off the bed. I roll over fall off bed only to wake up in bed again "fuuuuuuuuu-" eventualy i woke up

cant remember any other right now, if i do ill make another reply

I know sleep paralysis sucks and usually you'll wanna just focus really hard and break out of it; however, if you can convince yourself to just lie there, it's really easy to have lucid dreams.

Try to "roll out" of bed after you've been in sleep paralysis for a while. This is how it's always worked for me. You'll be at a point where you're actually dreaming to lie in bed but because it feels so real, you won't notice. You still believe you're in sleep paralysis.. so when you roll out, you manage to gain control of your dream-you and have an incredibly lucid experience.

Unless you're actually awake, then you roll out of bed and it hurts. A lot.

I could open my eyes, and my head was angled just enough that I could get some air through my mouth, but it wasn't enough and just as I felt like I was about to pass out I would regain control of my body. These were always scary experiences for me. It happened 4 or 5 times, and I can't remember the last time that I had one.

Probably your body trying to wake you up because its getting too little air, and then your brain not being able to wake up properly for some reason

I had that too once! And it felt very similar.

I dreamt that there was a guy standig in front of a group of my friends and me with a gun. He was arguing with one of us and then he shot him. And i went: "So what are you gonna do now? Just shoot all of us?"

And he looked at me. Then I knew that wasn't smart. He just looked at me without any expression in his face. Then he pointed the gun at my face and shot me. I was just standing there, looking at him. He still pokerfaced. All my friends were shocked. Then I felt something run down the back of my nose. I raised my hand to my forehead and felt a hole in the middle of it, and slowly, darkness was narrowing down my vision until all went black. It was so surreal, yet so real. That's when I "woke up". I could feel that I was laying in my bed, and that my girlfriend was sleeping next to me. I remembered that this was the way that I had gone to sleep that night, and realized that the stuff before was a dream, but I couldn't ******* move. I tried to say the name of my girlfriend, so that she may wake me up properly, but I couldn't get a single word out of my mouth. Not one. Not even a sound. I couldn't move, nothing. Slowly, I started to panic and this theory popped up in my head that the dream must've felt so real, then part of my brain must've died the "placebo" way or something. I was freaking the **** out and felt pressure on my lungs, even though I was breathing normally. I didn't even hyperventilate, even if I probably should have. Then all of a sudden, like getting lifted out of a bathtub or something, I was back. I tried to wake up my girlfriend because I was still shocked and scared ******** , but she just mumbled something and went back to sleep. (She's enormously hard to wake up). I decided to let her sleep and pulled her as close to me as I could, my heart still racing. It took me 2 hours to fall asleep again.
