I'm half convinced that the intro song is just English lyrics sung with a very heavy Japanese accent, which would make sense since this is almost the same down to the ******* syllables of the words.

The intro song has english lines mixed in, it's a common practice. And yes, they are with a heavy accent. But it's not completely in english.

Although, if you want to go that route, I think the music is on point, but not the vocals. So, in my opinion, it's not **** , just the vocals.
