The trouble with the internet is that we want it to be a right, but it's a service. No matter what happens, someone has to maintain the servers and lay down the cables and distribute the service. Someone will control the internet.

Now, the usual response to such a problem is "socialize it". But I think I can very safely say that no one wants the US government to run the internet.

to anyone saying internet is not a right, it's a service, you are absolutely correct, but just look at Brazil, they are making amazing progress in internet laws, denying telecommuncation companies from raising fees for different bandwith usage, actual net neutrality, etc. despite being a 3rd world country.
on the other hand we have Mexico, who just passed a bill that effectively gives their president total control over telecommunications, including but not limited to: blocking cell phone and internet coverage whenever he deems convenient, such as protests, riots, incidents of police brutality, to name a few.

Literally nobody likes this, even people in the FCC, I wouldn't be too worried.

I saw this coming a while back. When SOPA hit the scene, I started stockpiling porn. Gonna buy a new HDD for porn storage soon.

While I don't think the end is neigh, I'm unsure how this whole thing will turn out, so it doesn't hurt to be safe.

You know why the government wants to get it's fingers into the internet? There are two reasons, both of equal value to them, and equal ******** for us.
1) To control the dissemination of information
2) To tax internet use

Net neutrality may have nothing to do with either of those things, but endgame, it's much easier for the government to coerce/extort the very few dominant ISPs than all of them that exist now.

The internet is not a RIGHT. It is and always has been a SERVICE. Say what you want, but you're using a company's service, so they have the ability to do whatever **** they want unless the us gov steps in. and do we want that debacle

He got rid of net neutrality which was put into place to make sure all information on the internet is equal in terms of access speed, now its gone internet providers can purposely give priority to certain companies and hinder others,
