why do American airports not allow you to take a bottle of water on to the plane, but then on the plane you have the option to get another one?

Fun fact about water: It is more dense as a liquid than as a solid.

I'm a security guard and I can totally see some asshole trying to pull this stunt on me... My smart mouth response is: "Its a liquid in solid form which will melt and be a liquid in a couple hours. Throw it out."
If the people/person doing this looks cool, ill prob just laugh and say "good one but you know i still gotta tell you to throw it out"

some of the ice is at 0 degrees C.
0degC is the (approximate-_-) triple point of water at an atmosphere of pressure.
not only is there liquid, there is also a potentially harmful gas in the container
#42 to #28 - anteatereatingants (02/07/2014) [-]
That's not the triple point you stupid **** . The triple point of a substance is the temperature and pressure at which all three phases are in equilibrium. I'll let you think about what could happen if water could be a liquid, solid, OR gas every time it just gets to be 0 degrees outside. The actual triple point of water does occur at about 0 degrees C, but only under about 0.006 atm of pressure. 0.0006% of normal atmospheric pressure.

Also, assuming you actually manage to get water to it's triple point, that "potentially harmful gas?" Steam. Gas phase water. You know, the thing that shows up on your mirrors when you shower.

Holy **** .
