Heh, no. But, it might as well have!
I went full Lisa from the Simpsons.
He killed off one of my favorite characters No, I'm not reading Game of Thrones... but very similar. But, the thing was you didn't even know his name till after he died by a ******* necromancer. Well that's not technically true. You see The Nuban his racial nickname, has a blessed- or cursed?- double action crossbow that can literally almost take the head of a horse. So the protagonist just looks into the Nuban's eyes, knows what to do and picks up the crossbow and fires both bolts and impales both the necromancer and him to the wall. The protagonist is a bit cold and stoic but this death gets to him and he snaps a bit. So he carves the heart out of the necromancers chest and ******* eats it.... then by some *********************************** later it turns out she isn't even fully dead! Man, that pissed me off. Sorry about the wall of text, I just really into my books~
The King of Thorns, the second book in the trilogy The Prince of Thorns, The King of Thorns, then The Emperor of Thorns in The Broken Empire franchise written by Mark Lawrence.
Which I just found out made another book series within the same franchise so I will have to get that soon.
It gets really dark and graphic right off the bat and the the protagonist, Prince Honorous Jorg Ancrath, is an asshole. But, you can see why he's doing all this. And all his road brothers are so interesting and idiosyncratic. The magical world is subtle and beautiful at the same time. And one of my favorites that's still alive! is Gorgoth. That beast of a being is amazing.
I won't say much else in light of spoilers but needless to say I highly recommend it.
Well I do tend to read mature young adult books, and my favorite author is Darren O'Shaughnessy. He's the main reason why I'm majoring in Creative Writing for Entertainment right now but I could help
What are your typical genres you love to read? You like the dark and gritty stuff, the great adventure, the ******** endings, the journey is the destination and not the end, etc?
Alright well I'll start with the similar stuff.
These four have their own snippets, just standalone. But, they are long and satisfying with all the crap they have to put up with and kill.
Master of Chains by Jess Lebow, Ghostwalker Eric Scott di Bie, Son of Thunder by Murray J.D. Leeder, Bladesinger by Keith Francis Strohm. Fantastic stories of Fantasy.
Do you like demons and magic in a modern world ******* everything up? Then The Demonata series by Darren Shan are the books for you, there are ten. His books about vampires being badass and actually doing **** instead of sparkling, Cirque Du Freak have 12 books. They are smaller books but prepare for mind ***** . He has also started books about zombies. Literally Zom-B.
Like post apocalyptica like the rest of the world? The Maze Runner books are ******* great the movies try to ground them... but while entertaining, don't capture the raw emotion and obfuscation of the books. Many Feels were felt and actually I love the prequel The Kill Order just as much as the first book. But, we are not done! The Marbury Lens by Andrew Smith! ************* Marbury. Holy **** I would not want to live in this universe at all. Trying not to spoil anything major. Imagine if you swallowed both the red pill and the blue simultaneously from Matrix. And the matrix in this analogy was the backyard of Hell. I do love this series.
World War 1 alternate universe you say? The Leviathan trilogy by Scott Westerfeld. The Central powers have these hulking machine and robots while the Triple Entente have genetically fabricated beasts. It's get pretty crazy.
Temeraire by Naomi Novak is another alternate universe where every country has ************* dragons! It's the reimagining of the Napoleonic wars. I haven't read it yet but multiple people have told me it is great. 8 books.
On A Pale Horse by Pierre Anthony's. Guy is suicidal, kills Grim Reaper instead. So obviously he becomes the next one. And that's the beginning. 8 books.
Apprentice Adept by same^^^. It's uh... well here. Read the first paragraph but no more for slight spoilers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apprentice_Adept 7 books.
The Wheel of Time by Robert Jorden and Brandon Sanderson. this one is a crazy magical one as well. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheel_of_Time 14 books.
The Monstrumologist by Rick Yacney. A mortician turns out to be a monster hunter, who knew? Pretty disturbing but great. 4 books.
Escape from Furnace series by Alexander Gordon Smith. 5 books. The most secure prison in the world, the Summer of Slaughter, and unbeknownst ghastly experiments on its inhabitants, what's not to love? This goes to 0 to 100 real quick. His standalone Fury is pretty amazing too but it goes like full magical crazy. Not just scientist crazy.
That's all the ones off the top of my head, I'm almost reaching the limit of characters here, and it's almost 7 am so I think it is time to pass out. Hopefully some, if not all these, books helped!
I'll make sure to come back if anything else pops up.
Oh and a question for you, what are some of your very favorite books to read?
Suprise! another stupid ass post about thumbs! Thumbing thumbs posts! Screw all the other content lets just make posts about thumbing and counting thumbs and thumbing thumbs!!!
