While the contents of this bill are absurd and need to be amended to include a clause about rape/ situations which endanger the mother, the linked article is utter absurdity. Saying that all abortion, out of necessity or consent must be covered by health insurance is completely backwards to how any business structure can hope to survive. At the end of the day, consensual abortion is an elective procedure, i.e. something that isn't covered in a standard health care package. Nobody is going around saying the breast enhancement or rhinoplasty is an inherent right of man and should be covered in all insurance plans, because these procedures have no concrete and immediate effects on the patients well being. If companies were forced to include coverage for abortion, that would mean that premiums for healthcare for women would skyrocket, putting those who truly need health insurance out in the cold and further eating into the working-man's it's a ******* expression already stretched budget. If you want to rally against the injustice presented in this bill, I encourage you, just don't be so idiotic about it and accept that being able to have a choice does not mean that the world should pave the road towards making that choice for you.

I thought America was bad enough trying to ban abortions
but this
this
wow America, you have really outdone yourself.
i'm pretty sure their running out of ways to say 'hey, **** you women, we own your bodies'
User avatar #11 to #5 - dsrtpnk (12/14/2013) [-]
Men don't own their bodies either.

They have to convince a doctor to perform a vasectomy, whether or not there is a law protecting a "man's right to choose". Different doctors have their own personal requirements in the states, like you need to be at least over 30 with 2-3 kids before the doctor will even consider it.

At least women get slogans, commercials, and the whole million-dollar movement to push laws protecting the "right" to an abortion.

I didn't know incest and rape were such a problem in Michigan that you needed rape insurance.

Oh wait, 23,230 induced abortions were reported in Michigan in 2012.

That's alot of incest and raping going on in the Great Lake State.

<----- My face if I ever see the OP.

I read the article and all I'm getting from it is that insurance in Michigan is no longer allowed to cover abortion. The person has to pay extra for that coverage. Is that really all this is about? If so, can't say I really care. I don't really think insurance should cover abortion.

I always hated it here, but I think this is the last straw. **** you Michigan, I'm moving out East somewhere where I can actually get married if I choose.

Good for them. I hope they win the war against abortion.
User avatar #24 to #8 - madhattergirl (12/14/2013) [-]
As mentioned, it can't go away. Abortions have been done for hundreds of years, we have had safe and legal abortions for over 40 years and taking that away will cause women to attempt unsafe and deadly options. Also, probably a rise in crime, child death, abandoned children, medical costs (since many "late term" abortions are because of children with severe disorders and disabilities), etc.

It's a sigma that should no longer be applied since so many woman get it done. The more open we are about it, the better it will be.

While that is terrible,

What's wrong with Insurance companies not covering infanticide?
