i know someone puts alot of work into these comics. and that depresses me cause i feel like i waste their efforts when i find absolutely no amusement in reading them. they always seem like they would be funnier if i knew less about science , political or otherwise because then it seems more clever. but as it stands it just seems like the joke is directed at a younger audience who would find it funny because they had to look up some of the things he said and rethink the joke and be all like. woooooooow he is a genius lol.

Dude, I don't know what strip you're talking about, but Dilbert is mostly an office humour strip. It makes fun of clueless managers and coworkers, about living in cubicles and dealing with HR. It's not really geared towards people in their teens and twenties, who don't have a job like that.
I enjoy it, but I've never had to look anything up because of it, like I would webcomics like Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal and XKCD.
