this is a shot in the dark, but im gonna go ahead and guess the moral of the story is to save ur game?
User avatar #63 to #59 - fffffffuuuuuuuuuuu ONLINE (08/31/2014) [-]
No his moral is that you should always beat up pokemon with dragonbone weapons while wearing daedric armor. And after you killed the body to kill, you should load your game 20 times and do it again

I've done this so many times that I've thought about saving irl before going to a final exam or something.

The first time I entered an Oblivion gate, I came upon my first dremora who fecked me right up instantly.

The second time I went in, I ran up to him, swung my sword to take a measely portion of health, ran away, saved it, ran back, swung, dodged, ran away, saved.

There was in total seventeen save thumbnails of me just running away, a increasingly angry but slightly less strong dremora in the background.
User avatar #19 to #10 - delphine (08/30/2014) [-]
I thought I was the only one who did that. Also, when I'd get to a higher level and daedroths and **** would appear, I'd always save after killing each enemy.

> Not using wait after each battle
> Making 17 saves over the Kvatch Oblivion gate instead of using one autosave and one new save for your convenience

Waiting will bring you to max health, magicka, and fatigue AND autosave your game. This way, you can kill harder enemies for better loot

He's talking about 17 saves in a single battle.
User avatar #39 to #38 - unfitninjuh (08/31/2014) [-]
That's even worse, with waiting, you automatically load to a safe haven because you can't wait when there are enemies around
User avatar #104 to #39 - sinonyx (08/31/2014) [-]
god damn you're dense...

he said 17 times during one battle becuase if he were to die he wouldn't have to reload and fight a full health dremora agian. this way he can reload a save with the dremora already wounded and thus easier to kill

In animal crossing, if you reset the game a mole man will remind you to save when you exit. If you keep reseting he gets more and more mad. Sometimes he will yell at you for minutes on end.

Two thoughts when approaching a save point in a game:

1. OH THANK YOU SWEET BABY JESUS
2. What terror lurks on the other side of this here door?
User avatar #3 - mistercookie (08/30/2014) [-]
"Saving before going into scary door, no enemies inside room. Save inside room. Save when about to go through next door." Every time, except those times I forgot and died and have to do 3 hours of gameplay again...

that's what you get for relying on autosave/quicksave

open your command prompt and type
save (name)

"save (name)" for when i'm some where completely safe
"save (name)2" for when i enter a dangerous area
"save (name)3" for between fights
#37 - hikewne (08/31/2014) [-]
Live to the limit.

Don't save.

You have only one life.

Use it wisely.

(Dwarf Fortress Example)
Losing is fun!
Either way, it keeps you busy.
#111 to #37 - norkas (08/31/2014) [-]
dwarf fortress mentioned, swell with menacing spikes of silk
User avatar #112 to #111 - hikewne (08/31/2014) [-]
And soap supports of course
#40 to #37 - thechosentroll (08/31/2014) [-]
To clarify for people not familiar with Dwarf Fortress, there is only one way to exit the game - to save. There's only one save slot, which is overwritten every time and when you save it sends you to the main menu. Basically, there's no in-game way to savescum. You have to live with the consequences of your stupidity. Which are a lot.
User avatar #46 to #40 - atrocitustheking (08/31/2014) [-]
That's kind of dumb. Make a game hard, by all means, but to not let you try again is kind of ******** . We're busy people, we don't want to see all our work fall to nothing. We have the real world for that. Frustration =/= fun.
#49 to #46 - thechosentroll (08/31/2014) [-]
You have no idea what Dwarf Fortress is, do you? Dwarf Fortress is not a hard game. It's just difficult to learn and unforgiving. That's the fun of it. It's basically a simulation of the chaos theory. The chaos theory states that if you're faced with two options and you have to pick one randomly, there's a 50% chance of ******* up. Every time you're presented with two options, there's a 50% chance of ******* up, meaning the chance of success is halved every time and gradually decreases until it's impossible to not **** up. Dwarf Fortress is like that, except there's a 99,7% chance of a dwarf ******* up instead of 50%. You will lose eventually, no matter what you do. The fun part is seeing how long you'll be able to last before you're eventually overcome by the random ******** the game throws at you. Sometimes you'll lose because of an ancient evil, sometimes you'll lose because of a badly placed lever and a pissed off dwarf. Either way, you will lose. Savescumming is a tactic used by people who try to win things. It's pointless to use it in a game you can never win.

I'm not exaggerating by the way. There's literally no win conditions programmed. You can not win.
User avatar #50 to #49 - atrocitustheking (08/31/2014) [-]
See, I know what DF is... but I hadn't thought of it that way. It'd be like trying to save a Tetris game. Guess I never put two and two together.
User avatar #52 to #50 - thechosentroll (08/31/2014) [-]
Good example, actually. I didn't think of that. Would have been way easier than the chaos theory thing.
User avatar #57 to #52 - hikewne (08/31/2014) [-]
Anyway I loved the comparison. It explains the learning cliff of the game.
I didn't know I would find another person who plays Dwarf Frotress in this life. xD

#78 to #56 - youxbarstard (08/31/2014) [-]
Basically rotate your saves as well.
User avatar #26 - warioteam (08/30/2014) [-]
actually, the more you save on primitive harddrives like in a gameboy cartridge, the more battery power in the cart is used, making your game lose the ability to save quicker.
Not to worry, a fresh cart lasts around 10-15 years, depending on use.
User avatar #27 to #26 - satansferret ONLINE (08/30/2014) [-]
There's a quick fix to that problem though. Just to be sure your cart isn't running outa power you can pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds once a month. it'll charge it right up and you won't have any worries about this anymore.
#29 to #27 - warioteam (08/30/2014) [-]
thank you friend i just tried it

All in a days work my friend. btw, you will now have a secret save file that gives you Dev privileges; go into the options menu and keep pressing down. it might seem like it's not working but that's just a security messure. Keep on doing it.

I don't know what happened. when I did it on PS3 (I have ps3 and PC version) it worked. I saved in ps3 version mid explosion and when it loaded I was still alive. I was just taking a risk then seeing if that would work. I should have saved before I attempted the mid explosion save.
