It's just mudkip. He posts random tags on every post he makes, which are mostly reposts, in order to get search terms to get people to look at Funnyjunk.
Which, in my opinion, will not work 9/10 times and should be avoided because he kind of avoids putting in tags for things people might actually want to look up. For example, most people may find this post if they, for whatever reason, search Manchester City and find a random picture of Family guy.
Their first instinct is not going to be "Huh, what's this?" It's going to be "This isn't what I searched for" and backspace to google.
On the other hand, the people who see this and want to know what episode / season of Family guy it's from will have to do a separate search because Mudkip won't use proper tags. It's sadly not against the rules, despite the unlikely idea that it's going to work, so there's nothing we can do about it unless he upsets a mod in some other way.

"non invasive" -> forcing people to see Funnyjunk links that have nothing to do with what they searched for. Sounds invasive to me, you google invader.
Seriously, though, there's way better ways you could probably promote funnyjunk without spamming all these tags. There have been a couple posts of yours where I do want to know what the hell the post is about / from, but all you have is spammed tags of towns and jelly.
Put in s'more effort if you want to promote Funnyjunk and not just cross your fingers and hope they search your tags.

Post links in other places. It's more invasive, but it gets the job done.
Mention it to people or casually link them images of something you know they're searching for that go towards Funnyjunk's version instead of a default google image.
Anything is better than what you're doing now, in my opinion, and you could also try to post more relevant content with correct tags.
My "Stoic Orc" images often come up on Google, because I use them a lot and usually talk about them while using them, so Funnyjunk gets linked too because it's my comment being copied to Google images.

i actually made a thing about my tags imgur.com/gallery/B6uvc
Probably some top search terms. I remember reading a comment saying the top uploaders put trending topics in the tags of their uploads to try to get funnyjunk more traffic
