Story time if we're all going to be sad ***** .
Raised by grandma since the first grade cause dad died and mom was in prison for selling drugs. Love grandma like my own mother, but she was hoarder. House was always dirty, boxes of junk everywhere, at some point we got roaches and had them for years, and when our water line broke we didn't have running water for half a year.
But before the roaches and the water, grandma was just a hoarder and had a bad attitude a lot of the times. I never had anyone play at my house, much less a sleep-over, nor did I ever get to have any birthday parties with friends. So for my tenth birthday, I begged and begged to have a sleep-over with one friend. I got the go-ahead from grandma, and asked my only friend at the time. A week before I spent cleaning the house, getting it ready for my first play-date/sleepover/birthday party. The house was no where near ready and I didn't have any cool games to play or toys or movies to watch, but I was going to have fun with my best friend no matter what. I just sat waiting by the door, and when it finally knocked I was about to leap out of my seat. When I opened the door, it was my friend's mother standing there alone.
"Sorry Madison, Sarah forgot about the sleepover, she's spending the weekend with her grandparents."
"Oh, okay. Tell her its alright."
The worst part was that her grandparents lived in town, and we were a tiny-ass town. She saw them all the time. I remember just sitting on my bed after that, trying not to cry. I never ended up inviting any more friends to my house after that.

I haven't had a birthday in a while. My last party was my 14th. I am 19 now. The last time I planned a party was for my 15th birthday. I planned going to a laser tag place, I invited a few people, and was really excited because it was the first cool birthday party I ever planned. The party was on the horizon, and my parents got a divorce a week before. No party, no gifts, not even a congratulations, everyone, including my friends forgot. My birthday was spent packing up my stuff and moving into a dark, cramped basement that was owned by my mom's friend. Haven't even attempted to celebrate my birthday since. Although, my best friend Carlie found out when my birthday was, got me a 1000 dollar guitar, a wicked backpack, an amp, an awesome tshirt, a replica Itachi ring, and a crap load of her amazing drawing. She did it because she heard about what happened for my 15th birthday, and she wanted to right it. Carlie is amazing, she has always been there for me. Moral of this story, friends are better than anything, just the fact she wanted to make me happy is enough.

This is why I go to almost every party like event I get invited Because if nobody else goes and they end up all alone at their own party I would never forgive myself.

My best friend hasn't come to my last two birthday parties.

We only live an hour away from each other. I'm sad again.

Every year since I was about ten I've gotten so excited about having a big birthday party but since that year, only one or two people have shown. They left early every time.
My dad started messing with me like "Why do you want a party? Nobody will come just like last year." My 16th bday party should be this weekend if he lets me have it. I feel that I'm old enough now to realize that nobody is going to show up. I've only invited 3 people because the less that are invited the less I can be disappointed when they don't show up.

turning 16, can't wait to have a super cool party. everyone else's parents did something really cool for them on their 16th. had been hinting i wanted a surprise party for years. 16th birthday comes and goes, nothing happens, friends tell me happy birthday etc. ask my parents about it, they assumed i didn't want to do anything since i never asked. they throw me a family party, it's better than nothing, not too upset i guess. sister turns 12, 2 months later, mom schedules some crazy **** for her. takes all her friends out to some fancy salon in Scottsdale. then they get dinner and a movie at a rented out cinema/restaurant. they don't understand why im mad. they gave a 12 year old a better birthday than their 16 year old son
fast foward 2 years
im turning 18
still hinting about a ******* surprise. friends asking about what im doing for my party. say i don't know yet, thinking they're in on it. yet again, birthday passes
nothing
again, express frustration with parents. they give me same line they did 6 years ago. sisters birthday rolls around. again, she gets something crazy
she doesn't even ask them to do it, they just do it. tell my friends about it, they get pissed too. couple days later, friend tells me that to make it up to me, we're gonna have a kickback at his uncles. happy that they would do that for me
show up, uncles place a ******* mansion.
walk through the door to at least 500 people yelling "SURPRISE"
friends had invited everyone I knew
felt like i was dreaming
I was fairly well liked at school, but never imagined they would go this far for me
best party ever
2 years later everyone still talks about it
i love my friends
i hope everyone else can find as good a group of friends as I did

I remember for my sixteenth birthday, I wanted to make it as cool as possible for my friends and I. We couldn't have it at my house (for various reasons) so I asked if there were any movies they wanted to see. They said there weren't any. I asked if they wanted to hit an amusement park. They said no thanks. I even offered to pay (with my own money) for us to go into the goddamn city and rent a hotel room and spend the whole day and night partying, and they all said it was a stupid idea.

They didn't get how much that sucked for me. All I wanted was a cool ******* birthday party and I ended up spending it alone, thinking that everyone hated me.

10th birthday party, I invited my entire class to a party, a few of them lived less than a mile away, not one person showed up. I saw my best friend riding down the street on his bike, I got excited because I thought he was coming to my party, he just turned a corner right next to my house. I hid in my room and cried for a long ass time, but I realized they are just jerks who didn't get cake.
