MFW people suck MGR dick on FJ because it released on PC and the place is full of PC phags, meanwhile the actual game is unworthy of the title Metal Gear. At least with the release of MGSV on PC I might start to see some justifiable dick suckage here.
Except its fun as **** . And was advertised not as an MG game, but a game set in the MG universe. That's like getting sand in your vagina over Hyrule Warriors or Halo Wars. Also PC gaming is the **** guy, even if people mythologize the **** out of it.
It is fun, I enjoyed it. But it doesn't compare to the rest of the series but it released on PC so it gets more exposure on FJ than it deserves. Same with TF2, I'm so sick of seeing TF2 **** all over here.
I just wanted to get it off my chest. The MGS series doesn't get enough credit, but MGR gets a billion maymays and **** even though it's the black sheep of the MG series, a spin off and (hopefully) non-canon).
>MGS
>Not enough credit
Just because it's not always talked about doesn't mean people don't like it anymore. Besides, the dank meme density of Rising exceeds the Solid series by a lot, so it gets used more in the memetastic area that is FJ. There's plenty of dedicated places where you can go to talk about Solid incidentally.
In any case, who are you to judge a game's worthiness to hold a name? Here's some reading for ya, in several flavours: tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NoTrueScotsman www.logicalfallacies.info/presumption/no-true-scotsman/ www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zzSqL--d_I
"In any case, who are you to judge a game's worthiness to hold a name?"
I am a consumer of said games, I will absolutely judge them and I have the right to. It's not even an opinion thing, Rising is a completely wacky game with completely goofy characters in a completely different genre from the rest of the MG games. Like I said to that other person, I still enjoyed the game, but I had to head-canon it into being a fan project rather than an actual official Metal Gear game.
If you had to force yourself into denial about the games' place in the entire series can you really say you enjoyed it that much? I'm a story guy and if I had to do that, it would kill a game for me.
The concept of side-story games is not new. Lots of series have done that-Mario, Halo, Starcraft almost did, and countless others. Rising is this and a sequel for the Metal Gear-verse, and I think Kojima is avoiding dealing with its' aftermath for a good ************* wack, yo. It's gonna be hard to bring it all into canon-if it ever happens at all, or we're stuck in Big Boss's story till they stop making Metal Gear games.
I don't think anyone should be holding a No True Scotsman attitude about anything, but it's pretty clear nobody's changing your mind on this...
"The concept of side-story games is not new. Lots of series have done that-Mario, Halo..."
Mario has a story?
But Halo is a good example of how Rising is nothing like what you're saying. The Halo side-stories stay true to the characters/tone/atmosphere of the main Halo games. Rising is like a deformed parody of the the game that was going to happen before development was handed off to Platinum.
But I enjoyed Rising's gameplay and boss fights, even if it was very short.
Thousand folded steel comes from the fact that they use Iron and add a layer of carbon and fold it repeating this process up to a thousand times to distribute the carbon and remove impurities(This makes fine low carbon steel). They then add iron to the core and all that jazz but you asked about the 1000 fold steel.
I didn't say it wasn't, just nowhere near as effective as it's portrayed in the media or how weeaboos talk about it.
Katanas are simply beautifully designed swords which were effective in their day but up against a Knight who'd be wearing boiled leather jerkin, chain-mail and plate armor it's next to useless.
indeed, now i wanna see a tungsten carbide katana go up against a standard bastard sword, my money would still be on the european sword though, simply due to it being thicker and heavier while still being somewhat flexible
