There are over a billion cows today and the US produces most of it. There is almost nothing cheaper to make a burger out of other than beef. It's not necessarily the best beef, but it's still 100% beef.

on a unrelated note, beef is actually some of the most expensive meat to produce: Cost of feed for the cow, years you will have to sustain it before slaughter, amount of waste in kg per cow after slaughter which will have to be disposed of.

milk cows arent butchered. their usefulness is too great alive, and when they reach the age where they cant produce milk, their meat is in a very very poor state.
Only males or excess not milking cows are slaughtered.

Definitely voodoo. They use this meat paste stuff that isn't all necessarily beef but can be stored for long periods of time.

Actually, mcdonalds has hit something appropriately called the "mcdonalds precipice," where it's cheaper to just buy the real thing in immense bulk than to buy substitutes. The vast majority of everything mcdonalds sells is as advertised.
