Romeo and Juliet is the most overrated love story of all time, and anybody who read it would realize how stupid they really were.

Probably because it's a tragedy, not a love story.

not a love story, its a tragedy. Anybody who reads it and thinks its a love story is too much of an idiot to realize how stupid he/she really is.

Love in an unjust world.
We so quickly blame those damn teenagers; If only their families didn't hate each other, if only their church didn't see premarital sex as evil (no need to wed), they would've lived.
We either stay true to ourselves or conform to the universe, but we can't do both. That is the true tragedy of R+J and in Life.

It's a story about young love being prevented from naturally blooming.
If romeo and juliet were allowed to get together, they'd eventually break up after they realize that they don't like each other. Very quickly seeing how soon romeo got over that first chick he wanted to bang the moment he saw Juliet.
But, being teens who's parents denied them from what they thought was true love, they tried to fight it and because they secretly wanted to piss off their parents.
You can see this in a lot of teens who end up in meaningless relationships in highschool because their parents don't like it or because they're too stupid to realize that they're with the wrong person.

If it makes you feel any better, you can imagine that romeo and juliet were secretly related and their parents were trying to hide that from them because one of their moms ****** the other's dad. Which would explain the family feud.

If I remember correctly it was supposed to be an extremely corny and dumb love story. A sort of parody for said plays at the time.

That's why it's debated if it was infact a tragedy o0r was it meant to be a comedy... For example it's as if someone 400 years from now would think a parody movie like Scary Movie was meant to be scary.

you see it as stupid because you don't see the satirical elements to it.

Even though the point is probably true (I have absolutely no knowledge about Shakespeare) this persons conclusions are just ridiculous and hard to take serious. Because something happened another way in Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet has to be satire? So because Metallica usually makes trash-metal CD's the Load and Reload CD's has to be satire?

lul, das Hamlet fool.

Ever read "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" By Tom Stoppard? It's kinda like a spin off play with those two, and it explains their side of the whole Hamlet story, their journey to the castle and on the boat heading to England to their deaths and ****. Good play, seriously. Confusing as **** though I will say.

"Do you think... that possibly death could be a boat?"

"Death is the ultimate negative. The act of not being. You can't 'not be' on a boat"

"I've frequently not been on boats"
