Is he though? He was just the lapdog of the real villain and everything that made him cool was scrubbed clean from him by the end of the movie apart from the voice and mask.

That bane is a sorry excuse of the original. This is why movie adaptions often get criticized by fans of the original work; because they always try to be new and **** when they're promising a cinematic retelling of what we already love. That "Bane" would've been superb as a villain for a fresh new project, but seeing as he's so drastically different from the character he's ******* supposed to be, he fails.

If Bane wore a luchador mask he would be a little less intimidating

So we're just going to ignore the fact that he can just roid himself up to become huge?

I think a 'roided, valsero-sounding, luchador, that trained himself to be a ******* genius is much more intimidating than a philosophical, 18th century, bourgeoisie, opium-enthusiast through a Gower telephone. Steroids is to Bane as Insanity is to the Joker, they took away what made him Bane, reread the last sentence of my first comment.

i understand where your coming from, i read the comics aswell, but i saw this bane as a new villain altogether, when you start comparing villains in movies to the comic ones your bound to hate them most of the time

Thats exactly what I complained about, instead of using that creativity to make a whole new villain altogether (which would've ******* worked, DC isn't afraid of making comics for unique or non-canon works, thats why there are comics for things like Injustice or DC Universe Online.) My pet peeve is that they're trying to pass a character, which is fantastic on his own, as something he clearly isn't. Think of the end-boss of Arkham Asylum.

Not that much different. He's still Joker at the heart of it. Bane isn't even what made Bane iconic. The roids. What made the Joker? His crazy, chaotic, humorous (even if only to himself) nature. The only real difference is Heath's Joker didn't use chattering teeth or cream pies with bombs inside of them.

I felt the same. I didn't like that this Bane was smarter and more devious than the original.

I loved the idea of just pure brutality without thought but Tom Hardy's Bane was just too intelligent and methodical with his ways for me.

The Bane in the comics is a genius.......they just tried too hard in the movies to make him sound like the generic genius. Thats what makes Bane unique as a villain; yeah, he's roided up and looks like the only things in his head is "LIFT, ****, CARBO-LOAD." but he's in fact one of the smartest villains in the series.
